A Japanese moe character created in 2010, Hinomoto Oniko was conceived by users from the Breaking News (VIP) Board on 2channel as a satire of Chinese racial term, “日本鬼子”, literally meaning “Japanese Devil”. The Chinese ethnic slur is a phrase used since World War II, and still used today, against people of Japanese descent. The moe anthropomorphism has since become an internet meme within various forums and imageboards in Japan.
And now this character is also popular among cosplayers as well! I’m not sure if this is payback towards the Chinese, or simply a way for the Japanese to turn something negative into a positive! Thanks again to Marcello for letting me feature this!

EDIT: My bad! Thanks to Anon for correcting me that this is Ririchiyo from Inu x Boku SS!
I think she's actually cosplaying Ririchiyo from Inu x Boku SS. If you look at a full body picture of her, the stockings are unique.
