Durarara!!: Orihara Izaya 04

Source: ~Lupinine-Reiji on Deviant Art

“The road I walk is paved in gold, to glorify my platinum soul.
I'll buy my way to talk to god, so he can live with what I'm not.”

Orihara Izaya is a young informant who appears to be on no one else’s side other than his own. He sells information for his own satisfaction and played a hand behind the most relevant events in the series. Izaya suspected that Mikado was the creator of Dollars since the very beginning and even knew the identities of the leaders of the three main forces in Ikebukuro.

A rather cute looking Izaya by Lupinine Reiji on Deviant Art! So Izaya’s responsible for all that yellow tape! I love the casual look the cosplayer has in this shot. Thanks to Anya for sending this in!

Durarara!!: Heiwajima Shizuo 03

Normally, the brain restricts one's power and shuts down muscles in response to pain in order to prevent serious injury. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Heiwajima Shizuo doesn’t have this ability, making him capable of using his full strength at will. His is the naturally unlimited form of human strength, which Kishitani Shinra likens to “adrenaline power” that people get in time of emergency.

Awesome cosplay by Koya! The Indestructible Mashingan is right, this does look accurate in terms of style and attitude! Thanks again for sharing this with us and to LALA for the awesome photography!

Durarara!!: Sonohara Anri

The class representative along with Ryuugamine Mikado, Sonohara Anri is a quiet and timid girl who appears to be very close to Kida Masaomi and Mikado. Although she is aware than her two boy friends have feelings for her, she considers herself unable to feel "love" towards either of them. She is quite popular in school, but she feels rather uneasy about it.

I can see why she’s so popular with that outfit. First found on Oh Yeah Cosplay! Thanks to Nico for sending this in!

Durarara!!: Orihara Izaya 03

It was revealed in the anime that Orihara Izaya actually possesses Celty Sturluson's head, which is also his main motivation for starting gang wars. Izaya wanted to “awaken” the sleeping Dullahan’s head by throwing the world around her into chaos; in hopes that he will be taken to the warrior heaven of Valhalla. He believes Celty is a Valkyrie, a Norse angel of death who chooses which warriors die in battle in order to take them to Valhalla.

Impressive cosplay! I love the pose and the attitude, although I’m not entirely sure how in character the cosplayer is since I’m not familiar with the series. Thanks to Patty for sending this!

Durarara!!: Heiwajima Shizuo 02

Quiet and nondescript when not angered, Heiwajima Shizuo has a very short fuse and, although he claims to hate violence, has incredible strength when fighting. Despite his unrefined fighting skills with road signs, trash cans, and vending machines as his weapons of choice, he is considered to be the strongest fighter in the series. He is also capable of often superhuman parkour moves, a skill he obtained naturally from years of hunting down Orihara Izaya.

Stunning cosplay by Amori-chan! I’m thinking those “keep out” tapes were added through photoshop, but it does add a nice touch to the photo! Thanks again to Cherry for suggesting this!

Durarara!!: Orihara Mairu and Orihara Kururi

Twin sisters of Orihara Izaya, Mairu and Kururi are complete opposites of one another. Mairu, the younger twin, is an outgoing, trouble-maker like her brother, while Kururi is shy and soft spoken. Kururi is often bullied because of her sister’s reputation, but both sisters have their ways in responding to threats effectively. The twins are fans of Izaya’s friend, Heiwajima Kasuka.

So cute! And could they be twins or sisters in real life, I wonder? Thanks so much to Lauren for sending this!

Durarara!!: Heiwajima Shizuo and Orihara Izaya

Izaya and Shizuo have hated each other with a passion almost as soon as they first met one another. It was said in the novels that Izaya constantly framed Shizuo for crimes he didn’t commit. In the anime series, Izaya adds daily attacks from gangs aside from framing him. Although they are on bad terms, Shizuo is well-acquainted with Izaya’s twin sisters, Mairu and Kururi.

Deviant artists ~kozikiryu is Shizuo and =Lindzar is Izaya in this lovely photo. I could not un-see this when I first saw it in Lindzar’s gallery. Izaya really needs to stop pissing Shizuo off. Thanks to Lindzar for allowing me to feature her!

Durarara!!: Celty Sturluson

A Dullahan from Ireland, Celty Sturluson is a supernatural being who came to Japan in search for her stolen head. She has no heart and is able to perceive and function via unknown censors that are not located on the head. Celty is able to manipulate a shadow-like substance to form objects ranging from gloves to chariots at will.

Despite her strength and power, Celty does fear one thing: that if her stolen head is destroyed, she may also cease to exist.

I was quite stunned to see this in Mezurashi and knew that I would have to feature this ASAP. I wonder Valefor Ho is the photographer? In any case, thanks for sharing this!

EDIT: Thanks to anon for linking photographer Valefor's Deviant Art.

EDIT2: Thanks to Valefor for revealing the cosplayer to be *sakana of Deviant Art!

Durarara!!: Orihara Izaya

A master of parkour and very skilled with a flickblade, Izaya is a young man who enjoys torturing everyone and then observing their reactions because he "loves" the human race. He also enjoys giving Heiwajima Shizuo a hard time; such as having local gangs attack him framing him for crimes he didn't commit. Izaya's name is based on the biblical Isaiah and means "the one who looks over the crowd" in Japanese.

Cosplayer 香吏 (Kaori Ri) makes a convincingly great Izaya! I love how classy Izara is portrayed here. Character requested by Amelia!
