Final Fantasy XII: Rasler Heios Nabradia

final fantasy xii cosplay - rasler heios nabradiaIt’s been a while since I last added a photo in the Unknown Category… Google has made it a lot easier to identify most cosplays that I’m not familiar with, but it appears it has no information about this particular photo.

I am guessing he’s either from Final Fantasy or Ragnarok, but my searches came up with nothing. It would be a shame not to know more about this character since the details of his armor are pretty amazing.

If you have any idea who he is or who the character is, please do leave a comment below! Thanks to luaR for sharing this!

Ok guys, a little help here? I know the right side features the cast of Uta no Prince-sama, but who are the girls on the left? I’m debating among AKB0048, Idolmaster, and Love Live. Which is it or maybe they’re someone else entirely? Thanks to Lyla for sharing this!

EDIT: Thanks to Visa for letting me know that the girls are from Love Live!

Aion: The Tower of Eternity: Sorcerer

aion: the tower of eternity cosplay - sorcerer by mei wai

Anonymous asked:

Are you a Japanese mangaka?

I’m not Japanese, that’s for sure! But yes, I am a mangaka (Japanese-styled comics’ artist) by trade. Aside from my real names, I’m known as the artist “Kurohiko” here in the Philippines. I’m currently working on “KARMA” under Oh No! Manga, “Crystal Shadows” under Studio 4 Eyes, “A Day in the Life of Mei” under Pinoy Jokes + Manga Art, and “I Refuse Rue!” under Imaginarium among many other side projects/stories! You can view most of my work on my personal website, or in my Facebook Page.

Anyway, please do feel free to comment on who the cosplayer is and who she is cosplaying as! Thanks to Michelle for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Lance for letting me know this is Mei Wai cosplaying a Sorcerer from Aion: The Tower of Eternity!

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic: Ren Kouen

magi: the labyrinth of magic cosplay - ren kouen2chmod asked:

You have a certain standard for your blog. How come you don't post the sexier photos I send?

The main thing about this blog is that I want to have a website that features beautiful cosplays without the excessive exposure of one’s skin. While I agree that some anime series do have very accurate cosplays of sexy characters, I want my younger nephews and nieces to be able to go through this site without my older siblings killing me.

I do post the occasional bikini or almost-pantsu-shot though? I hope that’ll be enough for now.

Anyway, please post more of your questions in the comments of this entry! And also, please feel free to let me know who this cosplayer is portraying! Thanks to Sandy for sending this in!

Queen's Blade: Nanael

Ichigo Rei asked:
Have you ever been to conventions outside your own country? And if so, are there any differences between them?
Let me say first for those who do not know it yet, I’m from the Philippines. I do go to some conventions here, but since I am usually a seller, I don’t really have a lot of time to roam around and take photos of cosplayers.

To answer Ichigo’s question, yes, I have gone to conventions in two other countries: Sakura Con 2004 in Seattle, USA, and Anime Evolution 2004 in Vancouver, Canada. I guess in the US and Canada, conventions tend to have a lot more going on, all at the same time? There’s an event hall with an emcee, yes, but they also have theater rooms that show anime episodes and movies if you’re not interested in watching the program. Sakura Con also had a lot of special guests, including anime directors, Japanese and American voice actors, and a lots of anime and manga artists. They even had a mini concert and a cosplay ball.

Both the conventions I went to in the West also lasted until far into the evening. Not to mention, their events are usually in fairly huge locations, so it’s well worth the money spent for your entrance fee!

I have to say though, even though local conventions are a lot of fun too. And since local conventions are smaller, we tend to have more time to talk to our favorite manga artists and give them gifts! I’ve yet to try being a seller in Western Cons, but I’m sure they’re just as fun.

Anyway, I hope that answers your question! Feel free to ask me more questions via the comment section of this post. As for this week’s feature, please do let me know if you have any idea who she is cosplaying as! Thanks, Marcello!

EDIT: Thanks to San Celluz for letting me know that she is Nanael from Queen's Blade!

Girls & Panzer: Kawashima Momo

girls & panzer cosplay - kawashima momo from japan comiket 85My question for this week:

“Did you study photography?”

Back in college, I had to take a photography class, and we got to use SLRs. Not the digital ones that are more commonly used today, but the manual SLR camera with rolls of film and light meters. It’s very different because you can’t say for certain that you’ve caught the perfect shot until you get your film developed. As a result, photography was quite an expensive class to take, but I definitely enjoyed it! Especially the part where I got to develop my own film in the dark room!

I know my recent photos are not really that good, but hopefully I can take better ones next time! Please continue leaving questions for me to answer in Cosplay Holic’s Facebook Page or through the comments section on this blog! Thanks again, Marcello, for the amazing pictures from Japan Comiket 85!

Shining Tears X Wind: Hiruda Reia

shining tears x wind cosplay - hiruda reia from japan comiket 85Time to answer another email!

“Do you own a cosplay shop?”

I’ve recently been informed that there are several online cosplay stores that claim to be the “official” Cosplay Holic. Well, I may have come up with this name in 2007, but I didn’t exactly register or copyright this name since I never thought a cosplay blog would become so popular!

So no, unfortunately, I’m not associated with any online cosplay shops as of this moment. I’m really sorry for the confusion!

Anyway, this week’s unknown cosplay is rather cute, wouldn’t you agree? Please let me know if you have any idea who she’s cosplaying as, even if it’s just a guess!

Thanks guys! And keep those emails coming!

Dangan Ronpa 2: Goodbye Despair: Sonia Nevermind

dangan ronpa 2: goodbye despair cosplay - sonia nevermind from japan comiket 85Jason suggested that I use unknown cosplay features to answer questions not yet covered in the F.A.Q.s… I don’t have a lot as of yet, but I will answer this:

“Is it hard to maintain Cosplay Holic?”

I’m actually very lucky! When I started this site in 2007, I never thought it would as popular as it is now. Most of what I feature are submissions from the readers themselves, so I’m almost always ready to post something new every day! The only problem I have is time management, since I have work, hobbies, and life in general.

I hope that answers the question! Feel free to post your own questions in the comments section, and of course, please let me know if you have any idea who our featured cosplayer is portraying! Thanks, Marcello!

With this particular submission, I’m not exactly sure if they’re really cosplaying or not. But you have to admit, the costume, location, and composition is absolutely breath-taking! You just can’t beat natural beauty! And I really love kimonos and Japanese umbrellas!

So if anyone can please identify the characters or the cosplayers, feel free to comment. Thank you very much to Lily for sending this in!

AKB0048: Sugar Rush

Source: Hexieshe
I don’t know if it’s just me, but these girls look like they’re wearing cupcake inspired skirts..?

They’re certainly very colorful and it appears the characters are quite popular in the last Japan Comiket 83. I’m wondering in there’s a series or game based on these or if they’re original design… Can anyone take a wild guess please? Thanks to Darren for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Marc for letting me know they’re AKB0048 from the music video, “Sugar Rush” for Wreck-It Ralph!

It seems I’ve been ignoring this blog a lot for the past few weeks, I’m really sorry about that! Still trying to find that perfect balance of work, play, and party!

Now that I’m back to sorting out the huge amount of cosplays from Japan Comiket 83, I can have a few more additions to the Unknown section which will all hopefully be moved to the Unraveled section. That’s the hope anyway! So will you guys please check out this week’s featured photo and let me know what you think? Thanks to Kiara for sending this in!

Le Chevalier D'Eon: Lia de Beaumont

le chevalier d'eon cosplay - lia de beaumont from japan comiket 78
Source: LiveDoor
First, let me just say that this is one of the most amazingly detailed dresses I’ve ever seen in the cosplay world.

Second? Her eyes really scare me.

But who am I to criticize her, when I don’t like wearing contact lenses even if I cosplay a character who has a different eye color than me?

Well, joking aside, I hope we find out which series this is from because I’d really love to see if there’s a manga version so that I can get my hands on it. Thanks again to 2chmod for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Crispy Chip for letting me know she is Lia de Beaumont from Le Chevalier D'Eon!

Gantz: Kurono Kei

gantz cosplay - kurono kei from japan comiket 83
Source: Marcello Masiero on Flickr
Another amazing cosplay I can’t get out of my head. This feels like something from a futuristic, science-fiction series that’s really getting my curiosity up! And the fact that the cosplayer looks really cool is doubling my curiosity levels too!

I wonder if the cosplayer was uncomfortable? It looks like a full leather costume and they’re posing in the sun!

In any case, I hope those blue dots will give someone a clue as to who they’re cosplaying as. And if it helps any, here is photo with another cosplayer. Thanks again to Marcello for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Brent for letting me know this is Kurono Kei from Gantz!

SoniComi: Sonico 04

sonicomi cosplay - sonico from japan comiket 83
Source: Hexieshe
I think I may actually know this one, but I can’t be completely sure since I don’t know the game that well…

It looks to me that she might be Sonico from SoniComi, but that’s only basing it off of her pink hair and headphones. I don’t think I’ve seen artwork of her with a fur hoodie and blue cat ears. That’s pretty specific, unless this is the cosplayer’s original outfit for the character.

Then again, she can just as easily be Megurine Luka from Vocaloid 2, right?

I’m confused. Someone give me a vote of confidence!

EDIT: Thanks to Sans for letting me know this is Sonico from SoniComi!

Material Brave Ignition: Ogi Kanae

material brave ignition cosplay - ogi kanae from japan comiket 83
Source: Hexieshe
These types of cosplays can be pretty hard to guess.

I’m not sure how true this information is, but I’ve heard that there are a lot of independent manga circles who actually hire cosplayers to cosplay their original characters. If that’s true, then only a small number of people will know who this girl is and what series she’s from.

It must be nice to be a mangaka (manga artist) in Japan. Maybe I should learn the language and reset my goal to living there so that I can make a decent living from my art. In any case, thanks agin to Fumiki for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Katserest for letting me know she's from Material Brave Ignition! And now I've found out that the name of the character she's cosplaying is Ogi Kanae!

We have come to that time of the year again! With Japan Comiket 83 now come and gone, there are several batches of unknown cosplays ready and waiting to be discovered! …well, ok, they are unknown to me but probably fairly common to you guys!

Today we have a cute, twin-tailed girl who had pink hair and a cross brooch. I really like the cream colored uniform for this character, and there are a lot of line details to her uniform too! Maybe someone might have an idea who she is and where she’s from? Thanks to Fumiki for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to Patrick for letting me know the cosplayer is Enako!

Blonde twintails and black ribbons (or could those actually be bunny ears)?

Nope, sorry, I got nothing, except maybe that she’s really, really cute! Honestly though, the closest character that I can think of is Kooh from Pangya, but I don’t think there’s an outfit like this in the game.

Your guesses would probably be much better than mine, so please do comment away! Thanks again to 4chanatic for sending this in!

Strike Witches: Charlotte E. Yeager

strike witches cosplay - charlotte e. yeager from japan comiket 79
Source: Livedoor
I was going to get myself ready for the barrage of unknown cosplays for the latest Comiket when I found this.

This was in an email from way back in 2011. She’s from Comiket 79, but with only those bunny ears and jacket logo, I have no idea where she’s from. I would have said Asahina Mikuru from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, but I’m pretty sure Nagato Yuki is the white rabbit and Mikuru is the red one.

Anyone have a better idea? Thanks to 4chanatic for sharing his huge collection of cosplay photos!

EDIT: Thanks to Amateur Cameko for letting me know she is Charlotte E. Yeager from Strike Witches!

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: GRU Soldier

metal gear cosplay
Source: Photobucket

Metal Gear is a series of stealth video games created by Kojima Hideo which are developed and published by Konami. The player takes control of a special forces operative Solid Snake, assigned to find the titular superweapon "Metal Gear", said to be a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons. Several sequels have been released for multiple consoles to this day, with the first game released in 1987 for the MSX2.

I’m not sure who this guy is, but I definitely know that “!” when I see it. Can anyone tell me who he is and from which Metal Gear series he first appeared in? That would be great! Thanks to Mike for sending this in!

EDIT: Thanks to anon for letting me know he is a soldier from the Russian Military Intelligence Agency, Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye, simply known as GRU.
