Touken Ranbu: Tsurumaru Kuninaga 02

touken ranbu cosplay - tsurumaru kuninaga by mikado

Tsurumaru’s name uses the kanji “鶴” which could also mean “crane”. The crane is said to be a symbol of fortune and longevity in Japan, but Tsurumaru historically brought ruin to his chain of masters. Nevertheless, he is still the best preserved blade from the Heian perios despite his turbulent history.

Doesn’t Japanese cosplayer Mikado look absolutely stunning? Please be sure to send her your messages and support the cosplayer through Archive, Twitter, or World Cosplay! Thanks to Shio for sending this in!

Another amazing cosplay by Heyleydia! Touken Ranbu is really popular, isn’t it? I think it’s about time I hunt for cosplays of the other characters on my own.

As usual, please support this Thai cosplayer through Facebook and World Cosplay! Thanks to Alexandra for sending this in!

Touken Ranbu: Shokudaikiri Mitsutada

touken ranbu cosplay - shokudaikiri mitsutada by mina maruI’m Shokudaikiri Mitsutada. I’m a katana that was once used by Lord Date Masamune.

I don’t harbor any bad feelings towards Lord Masamune, but my name comes from a time when I killed someone and happened to cut a candlestick that was nearby at the same time... Although it really was a bronze candlestick holder, it would’ve been cooler if it had been something a bit more durable.

Touken Ranbu: Tsurumaru Kuninaga

touken ranbu cosplay - tsurumaru kuninaga by 12ye

I’m Tsurumaru Kuninaga. Made in the Heian era, I’ve been passed from owner to owner up until now. Well, that shows just how renowned I am.

...Though, I can't approve of grave-robbing or stealing from shrines out of desire for me...

Oh wow, those “wings” are magnificent! I initially thought those wings were added digitally but it looks like they’re real! There is also a second photo from this shoot that you have to check out!

Touken Ranbu: Mikazuki Munechika 02

俺の名は三日月宗近。まあ、天下五剣の一つにして、一番美しいともいうな。
My name is Mikazuki Munechika. Well, I'm only one of the five great swords of Japan, but I'm also said to be the most elegant.

十一世紀の末に生まれた。ようするにまぁ、じじいさ。ははは
I was born near the end of the 11th century. I guess you can say I'm an old man. Hahaha!

Touken Ranbu: Heshikiri Hasebe

touken ranbu cosplay - heshikiri hasebe

Heshikiri Hasebe. .... Weird name, isn't it? My previous lord, you see, could not forgive the mistake of his tea servant, and I was thus named when he executed the hiding servant with only the weight of the blade... He's that kind of man. Oda Nobunaga, that is.

This game is seriously getting a lot of amazing cosplays… so much that I’m beginning to take interest in playing the game myself, even if I can’t understand it.

Please support the cosplayer by visiting their weibo! Thanks to Touken Ranbu Vietnam for sharing this!

Touken Ranbu: Mikazuki Munechika

touken ranbu cosplay - mikazuki munechika by reika

Mikazuki Munechika is a character based on one of the tenka goken, a group of Japanese swords famous for their history or beauty. The katana was created near the end of the 11th century by Sanjo Munechika, who lived during the mid-Heian period. Mikazuki is the representative of the Sanjo signature, as its unique crescent moon pattern makes it the most beautiful of the five swords.

An online, web browser game based on infamous swords? Japan sure is creative in making sure the younger generation learn about its rich history! And beautiful Japanese cosplayers like Reika also help preserve Japanese culture, wouldn’t you agree?
