Gilgamesh was the great half-god, half-human king born from the union between the King of Uruk, Lugalbanda, and goddess Rimat-Ninsun. He is said to be the King of Heroes who possessed all things in the world and was destined to achieve great feats. As a Servant, he is among the Archer-class with the “Gate of Babylon” as his Nobel Phantasm.

The reverse female version of Gilgamesh was first seen in Type-Moon Ace volume 5, a Comp Ace magazine spinoff published by Kadokawa Shoten.

At the beginning of the series, Saber did not appreciate Emiya Shirou’s treatment of her as a woman due to her status as a knight and Servant. Her pride as a former king made her appear to be somewhat cold and distant, as she was unwilling to show her emotions. However, as the series progressed, Saber’s insecurities became more apparent, and she later began to open up to Shirou little by little.

She’s so cute! Although Saber doesn’t want to admit it, I think she’s actually a little shy whenever someone compliments her about… practically anything. Thanks again to Marcello for sharing this!

Saber was summoned onto the Fifth Holy Grail War as the Servant of Emiya Shirou. When Lancer was revived by Tohsaka Rin’s pendant, he pursued Shirou in an attempt to kill him once more. By luck, or fate, the remnants of Irisviel’s magic circle happened to still be present in Shirou’s shed, which allowed him to summon Saber (albeit rather clumsily).

This cosplayer looks very familiar. I think she may have cosplayer Saber in one of the Comiket events in the past. Would you happen to know who she might be? Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this in!

Fate/Stay Night: Saber 11

As one of the servants summoned during the Fourth Holy Grail War, Saber was unable to recognize Irisviel’s daughter, Ilya when she participated in the Fifth War. This is possibly due to the fact that Irisviel never told Saber her daughter’s name, and that Saber initially thought Ilya would have become more mature like her mother come the Fifth War. Saber reasons that Ilya is a new homunculus with similarities in her appearance due to the Einzbern homunculi looking alike after their creation. She eventually gets the chance to interact casually with Ilya and act nicely toward her.

Beautiful cosplayer from Japan Comiket 82! I think this is one of the special outfits from the Fate/Stay Night Movie, but I’m not completely sure. There are so many variation of Saber now that I can’t keep up! Thanks again to Miguel for sending this in!

Taylor Swift as Saber from Fate/Stay Night

Could it be true?

Could Taylor Swift, the cute, pop country singer who stole and broke the hearts of many actually be an otaku? Did she really cosplay, albeit casually, Saber from Fate/Stay Night?!

Well, unfortunately, this is no more than a well-photoshoped image of Taylor getting her morning coffee. The ahoge and ribbon were added to the original image, but hey, we can dream can’t we? And since a lot of cosplay photos are photoshoped anyway, I guess we can consider this one too.

Fate/Stay Night: Saber 09

When Arturia was only fifteen, her father, King Uther passed away. With no known eligible heir to the throne, Britain entered a period of turmoil following the growing threat of the Saxon invasion. It was then that Merlin approached her and explained that the British people would recognize her as a destined ruler if she draws Caliburn, a ceremonial sword embedded in a large slab of stone. However, pulling this sword was also symbolic of accepting the hardships of a monarch, and Arturia will bear the responsibility of preserving the welfare of her people. She drew Caliburn without hesitation and shouldered Britain’s mantle of leadership.

Tohsaka Rin specializes in the transformation of energy, which include the storage of Mana in objects. Her preferred objects for mana storage are jewels which she regularly charges to bypass her body's natural energy limitations. Rin can detonate her jewels like well-timed bombs upon contact with her target, resulting in a release of energy equivalent to an attack rank of "A".

Fate/Stay Night: Archer and Tohsaka Rin

Tohsaka Rin is one of the masters of the 5th Holy Grail War. When she tried to summon a Saber-class servant, she accidentally called Archer, who is well adept in bare-handed fighting, armed combat, Magecraft, and even housework. Her failure in summoning is partially due to her lack of formal magic education, but she is considered to be extremely powerful in her own right.

Arturia Pendragon ruled Britain from her stronghold in Camelot and earned a reputation of a just, yet distant king. She was guided by Merlin and supported by her Knights of the Round Table; giving her the wisdom and power to guide Britain into an era of peace and tranquility.

When her sword Caliburn was destroyed, she acquired her holy sword, Excalibur, and blessed sheath, Avalon, from Vivian. While Avalon was in her possession, Arturia did not age and became immortal in battle.

Saber was born with the prana of a dragon, as Uther ordered Merlin to grant his successor the factor of the dragon. As the holder of the Element of the Red Dragon, Saber carries the blood of the phantasm in her body, granting her a heart and unique Magic Circuits that transcend what can be achieved by normal humans and magi. Saber’s Circuits are known as a Magical Core, which is fundamentally different from those of a normal magus.

Fate/Stay Night: Saber 06

Saber's full name is Arturia Pendragon, the daughter of British King Uther Pendragon and Igraine, a former Duchess of Cornwall. During her nativity, her father realized that his subjects would never accept a female as their legitimate ruler and thus decided not to publicly announce Arturia’s birth or gender. She was then entrusted by Merlin to a loyal knight, Sir Ector, who raised Arturia as a surrogate son.

I always found this story to be so sad, seeing Saber shunned because she was born female. Thanks to Lirica for sending this!

Fate/Stay Night: Saber 05

Saber was forced to destroy the Holy Grail during the fourth war as commanded by her master, Emiya Kiritsugu. However, she was not able to destroy the Grail completely, managing only to destroy its physical form. Kiritsugu needed to use his Reiju, a command seal, because Saber wished to use the Grail to redo her life so that a better person could take her place as king of her country.

Saber is technically the fourth character to reach 10 features in Cosplay Holic, seeing we have two darks, two lilys, and one red. And I know her hair’s a little off, but there’s something about this cosplay that makes it so in character. Thanks to Krystal for sending this!

Fate/Stay Night: Tosaka Rin

A model student and idol of Kamiya Shiro’s school, Tosaka Rin seemingly prefers to be alone than be in the company of other students. This is because she is secretly a magus, the successor to her family’s magecraft, and she was instructed by her father, Tokiomi, to prioritize sorcery over her own interests. Since then, she strived to earn the admiration of her peers to avoid drawing attention to her private life.

Fate/Stay Night: Saber 04

Standing amongst the most outstanding of classes, Saber is excellent in all categories, making her one of the most powerful servants in the world of Fate/Stay Night. Even though Emiya Shiro could not effectively provide her with Mana, she minimizes her activities in order to preserve what she has. She is often frustrated by her master's protective tendencies and believes that his reckless behavior will jeopardize their chance of winning the Holy Grail War.

It's rare to see Saber with her hair down, but I love the distant look she has in her eyes. Could she be the same cosplayer I featured last December 2009? Thanks to Dai for sending this in!
