Isn’t this Konata cosplayer cute? And all of those anime magazines… I wish there was a proper English anime and manga magazine here too. Thanks to Nuthan Long for sharing this!

Lucky Star: Hiiragi Tsukasa 02

lucky star cosplay - hiiragi tsukasa 2
Source: Ang Ganda mo Anime Ka ba? on Facebook
Hiiragi Tsukasa is often mistaken for cosplaying Kamigishi Akari from the To Heart series because of her hairstyle. Konata even gave her the official uniform of the anime for her birthday, but their autumn uniform is actually close enough that she was stopped at Akihabara by two fans in order to take her picture. It is interesting to note that Tsukasa’s hair ribbon changes position depending on her mood.

She’s so adorable! Very much like the Tsukasa we know and love! Thanks to Cyrene for sending this in!

Lucky Star: Hiiragi Kagami 03

lucky star cosplay - hiiragi kagami 3

Kagami is a bit egotistical, although she is also somewhat weak when it comes to common household chores such as cooking and cleaning. For some reason or other, she is constantly attempting to hide the fact that she has a deep sense of attachment to her friends. However, Kagami does enjoy mocking Konata’s smaller-than-average physique, much to the latter's chagrin.

Such a cute Kagami! Although the lighting is playing tricks with the real color of her wig. Thanks again to Melanie for sending this in!

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata 06

lucky star cosplay - izumi konata 06 by aka-sanIzumi Konata is the hardcore otaku protagonist of the Lucky Star series. She has a tendency to refer to several popular games, anime, and manga; including Yu-Gi-Oh! and The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. She has many figures of Suzumiya Haruhi in her room and even cosplayed her in the Cosplay Cafe she works in.

Did I mention that both characters have the same seiyuu (voice actress) too? Awesome cosplay by Aka-san! Thanks to Raichuu for sending this in!

Lucky Star: Hiiragi Kagami 02

lucky star cosplay - hiiragi kagami 02 by kanda midoriDespite her annoyance with Konata's constant references to her otaku interests, Kagami is quite knowledgeable with anime and games, preferring light novels over manga. She tends to fret about her weight even though she has no willpower in controlling her eating habits. Although she and Konata are often seen arguing, Kagami has a strong attachment to Konata and is almost always willing do favors for her.

Cosplayer Kanda Midori makes a great Kagamin! This Miko outfit really suits her character as well. I don’t remember an episode from the series showing Kagami as a shrine maiden though, do you? Thanks to Wendy for suggesting this!

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata 05

lucky star cosplay - izumi konata 05 from comiket 2010Often accused of being "lazy" by Kagami, Konata is actually very intelligent and capable of athleticism. Unfortunately, she regards her hobbies as an otaku to be more important that her studies. She lives with her widowed father and is the splitting image of her mother. Her cousin, Kobayakawa Yutaka, later comes to live with them in order to attend Konata’s school.

Cute cosplayer from Comiket 2010! And isn’t that an Ultraman pose she’s doing like in the series? Thanks to Edward for sending this!

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata 04

lucky star cosplay - izumi konata 04Well-known for her curious question about chocolate cornets, Izumi Konata is the leader and the shortest of the main characters in the series. She works in a cosplay cafe in Akihabara in order to fund her expensive hobby of collecting manga, anime, and games. She loves to play online games late into the night, which is the reason why she tends to fall asleep in class.

I don’t think she ever got the answer to which end of the chocolate cornet is the head. As for me? I’m wondering about Japan’s uniforms; I know they have two sets, one for summer and one for winter, but are they usually two different colors too? Anyway, great job with this cosplay! Thanks to fuffly for sharing!

Lucky Star: Hiiragi Tsukasa

lucky star cosplay - hiiragi tsukasaKind-hearted, but a little clumsy, Tsukasa is the younger, fraternal twin sister of Kagami who is in the same class as Konata. She is not very good in academics or sports, but she is very good in cooking. Tsukasa often asks for her sister's help like Konata does when it comes to homework, but if hardly ever makes a difference. She can also be a little slow at times, getting lost in the conversations among the Lucky Star cast.

I think she makes an adorable Tsuakasa. I think this was the time when she, Kagami, and Konata went to a festival. Great work! And thanks to ~MPzero~ for sharing the photo!

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata 03

lucky star cosplay - izumi konataAn intelligent and athletic girl who prefers her anime, manga, and gaming hobbies over school work, Izumi Konata takes quite a harsh beating from Hiiragi Kagami whenever Konata asks for help with her studies. Despite their different interests, however, Kagami is good friends with Konata, and she tries to encourage Konata to read more by sharing her light novels interest with her as Konata shares her interest of anime, manga, and games with Kagami.

I find it amusing how cosplayers can get strands of hair to stand up like that to make it more similar to the original character. Her green eyes really stand out in this picture. Excellent job!

Lucky Star: Hiiragi Kagami

lucky star cosplay - hiiragi kagamiThe older twin sister of Tsuakasa, Kagami (who is sometimes referred as "Kagamin") is a friend of Konata’s and Miyuki’s who loves to read light novels and play shoot ‘em up games. She is in a different classroom than the other main characters of Lucky Star; much to her distress since she even chose the same course in her second year in hopes of being with them.

Kagami studies very hard and is somewhat egotistical. Konata often pesters Kagamin to allow her to copy her homework or tutor her when the exams and/or the due date for summer homework is just around the corner.

Cute cosplay. I found this when I was browsing through Photobucket. I wonder who the cosplayer is?

Lucky Star: Takara Miyuki

lucky star cosplay - takara miyukiThe well-mannered young lady of the Lucky Star group, Takara Miyuki was the class president for her grade level in her first year. She prefers glasses over contact lenses because she’s afraid of putting the lenses into her eyes. Konata often teases her for embodying a large number of moe archetypes.

She makes a cute Miyuki, don’t you think? It’s interesting to note that she even colored her eyebrows for this cosplay. Nice work! I love her choice in eye glass frames too.

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata (Seiyuu, Hirano Aya)

hirano aya - izumi konata smileIt’s one thing to have a cute cosplayer portrayer the anime character, but how about a cute seiyuu (voice actress) who looks like the cute character?

This is Hirano Aya, the seiyuu behind Lucky Star’s Izumi Konata. I’m not entirely sure about the story behind this picture, but you can’t deny her smile looks like Konata’s.

Aya is a voice actress and a J-pop singer in Japan. She has had many roles in TV commercials, visual novels, and of course, several anime series. Hello Kitty fans will also recognize her as the voice behind Emily in the 2007 animation film, Hello Kitty: Apple Forest and the Parallel Town. Aya is also the voice behind Suzumiya Haruhi, whom Konata cosplays as in the series.

hirano aya - anime version in lucky star All in all, I’d say Aya is pretty famous in the Otaku (anime fans) circle. In Lucky Star, she even made an appearance in the anime itself, shown in the icon on the left. I think the real Aya is a lot cuter though.

Lucky Star: Izumi Konata

lucky star cosplay - izumi konataThe stereotypical otaku (anime lover) character in the series Lucky Star, Izumi Konata is fun loving, athletic girl who prefers her hobbies over studies and sports. Since she needs a lot of money to keep up with the latest anime and manga series, she works part time in a cosplay cafe.

Parodies of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi can be seen in this anime while Kona-chan works in the cafe. In one episode, Konata cosplayed Haruhi and danced the signature ending theme song. Ironic, considering Konata and Haruhi have the same seiyuu (voice actress), Hirano Aya, and yet you wouldn’t have noticed if you don’t read the end credits.

Cute cosplay! She got Kona-chan’s expression perfectly. Even that one strand of hair sticking out on top. Nicely done!

Lucky Star: Shiraishi Minoru and Kogami Akira

lucky star cosplay - shiraishi minoru and kogami akira I’m so sorry for not updating over the holidays… I’ve been quite ill for a while, and no one wants to spend the holidays sick in bed… But that’s how I spent my Christmas. :(

Anyway, I found a bunch of pretty awesome cosplays, and it’s a nice welcome for the new year to post a bunch of them to start of with, right?

This is the one I saw that was most amusing. You see, in the anime “Lucky Star”, there’s a special segment at the end of the show called “Lucky Channel”. The girl, Akira, is apparently an idol who can be super cute when she’s in the mood, and a huge pain when she’s mad. Minoru is her assistant, who became more famous than Akira, though this picture makes it look as if he’s trying to get a spot in the limelight!

Pretty accurate cosplay! Lucky Star rules!
