Kuran Kaname is the first ancestor of the Kuran clan who was taken from eternal slumber and forced back into the land of the living by his own descendant, Rido Kuran. While Rido’s purpose in reviving Kaname was to make use of his powers, Kaname was able to kill his master by the use of a “white pawn stained black”, Kiryuu Zero.
Quite impressive that the cosplayer is able to capture Kaname’s look. I love the eyes and how they seem to look right through you. Wonderful job!
Kaname is the ancestor of the Kurans, the very first pure blood vampire who was reincarnated thanks to his own descendant, Rido. Despite wanting to kill Rido to avenge his parents’ death, Kaname could not finish him because Rido is his creator. In order to save Yuki, Kaname reduced Rido to a state wherein he could not fully revive unless he takes the blood of another pureblooded vampire.
Singaporean cosplayer おくの (Okuno) who is also known as Mike is the man behind this Kaname cosplay. I must admit, I'm glad to see a guy cosplay him, as there are more girl cosplayers of Kaname. Ruka is loyal and dedicated to Kaname, even to the point of loving him. Her feelings are left unrequited because Kaname has chosen Yuki to be his lover. After discovering that Yuki is Kaname’s pureblood sister, Ruka comes to accept Yuki and remains dedicated to Kaname in a mature and level-headed attitude.

If there is one cosplay series I can't seem to get enough of, it's Vampire Knight; specifically, Kuran Kaname.
It’s either that, or this is the scene after Kaname asked Yuki to be his lover, and their first lunch together ended with her collapsing from the hallucinations of her lost memories. Wonderful cosplay by Gust James and Satiko-hime, nonetheless!
At the end of the first arc, Kaname turned Yuuki into a vampire, revealing her true nature as the pureblood princess of the Kurans. It was said that Yuuki was born as his sister and his future wife. However, it was later explained that Kaname was not Yuuki’s real brother, but her ancestor who was awakened at the cost of her real brother’s life.
Sorry, but I still like this pairing better than Zero x Yuuki, and Rainer and Rieyn both look stunning as the pureblood siblings! I think the ending of the manga was rather tragic and I felt that it was a little rushed somehow! I think I will keep the anime ending in mind instead of the manga. Kaname was able to stop Rido’s plans temporarily, but was too badly injured and starved after several years of sleep that he knew he could go berserk at any moment. Kaname then chose to fall into Haruka and Juuri’s mercy and turn himself into a baby, a form that would not need a lot of blood in order to survive, and put his own memories to sleep so that it would not get in the way.
The second character to reach 10 different cosplay features in Cosplay Holic! I didn’t know this series was so popular, specifically this character as there have been a lot of fan bashing lately. Thanks to Blood Red Princess for sending this in!

Kaname then brings her to Cross Academy where she is adopted by the headmaster and given the name Yuki Cross.
Since then, she has looked highly upon Kaname. Yuki is very affectionate towards Kaname as she would to an older brother. Maybe something more.
This is a beautiful shot of the main characters of Vampire Knight. I love their expressions, and I think this cosplayer makes a nice rival for Stay. Nice job!

She is a female model who is often mistaken to be a man even among her Japanese fans as she often cross-dresses or wears boys-styled clothing. AKIRA appears regularly in the alternative fashion magazines KERA and KERA BOKU. She is also the leader of the Visual Kei rock band DISACODE as their singer and song-writer.
AKIRA played Kuran Kaname in the musical adaptation of Vampire Knight.
Oh wow, I suspected that AKIRA was a girl, but I didn’t know that she uses her androgynous appearance for work too! Wait, does that even make sense? I just didn’t know that there is a cross-dressing culture in Japan outside of cosplay!

Shortly after Zero’s arrival into the Cross household, Yuki accidentally witnessed Kaname feeding blood off of Ruka. This changed the closeness they once shared as Yuki is reminded of the difference between humans and vampires. Now keenly aware that her feelings for him were futile, Yuki chose to distance herself from Kaname, admiring him only from afar.
I really liked the start of this series, and I wish they had ended up together instead of Zero entering the picture, but I guess I can always satisfy myself with cosplays like these as well as the many fanfics all over the internet. Thanks to Mica for sending this in!

This looks like the cover of the Vampire Knight Official Fanbook, although Yuki and Zero were in their Day Class uniforms there. I’m pretty sure that Kaname is cosplayed by Stay since I featured her as Kaname before, but I don’t know the cosplayers she’s with. Probably good friends of hers right? Born into a well-known Vampire Hunter Family, Kiryuu Zero had a twist of fate, thanks to a pure blood vampire Hio Shizuka wiping out his entire family. It is because of her that he hates vampires, and the fact that he has become a Level E vampire himself makes it difficult for him to get over his hatred.
He has a dependent relationship with Kaname, another pure blood vampire who allowed Zero to drink his blood in order to suppress his thirst for blood.
Gorgeous cosplay by On/Off, the pair who performed Vampire Knight opening song, Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi (Two Heartbeats and the Red Sin). I wish Zero had silver hair, but he's got the attitude down. Great work!
Loyally and faithfully dedicated to Kuran Kaname, Ruka has had strong feelings for Kaname even when they were still children. She has even offered her blood to Kaname in order to ease his hunger, but he has only done so once to protect Yuki from his urge to bite her. Although Ruka first despises Yuki for being chosen by Kaname to be his lover, Ruka eventually accepts her and remains ever vigilant in serving her Lord.
Beautiful Ruka. There have been a lot of Vampire Knight cosplayers going around for a while. Hino Matsuri must have a lot of fans by now. Great job on this cosplay!
