xxxHolic: Ichihara Yuuko 05

Although Yuuko has the ability to predict the future, she often visits a fortuneteller whom she lovingly refers to as “Oba-chan”. Once, when Watanuki accompanied her, Yuuko explained that one cannot predict their own future of else there will be chaos. Nevertheless, Oba-chan is one of Yuuko’s oldest friends and is the only one in the entire series to call Yuuko “Yuuko-chan”.

Isn’t IZUMI (和泉) absolutely gorgeous? I know I’m now a huge fan of hers since she cosplayed one of my favorite characters so perfectly! If you’d like to see more of her work, please support her though Archive, Cloud, Cure, and World Cosplay! Thanks to Jai for sending this in!

xxxHolic: Ichihara Yuuko 04

Ichihara Yuuko is a powerful witch who runs a shop that can grant any wish to its customers in exchange for something of equal value. Yuuko accepts anything for her services, from precious objects to abstract concepts such as love or luck. It is said that one can only enter the shop if one needs to do so. Otherwise, the shop can’t even be found by outsiders.

Russian cosplayer Gnitae makes a lovely Yuuko! She even has Yuuko’s pipe, and that relaxed pose is definitely much like the character herself! Thanks to Roman for sending this in!

xxxHolic: Watanuki Kimihiro and Ichihara Yuuko 02

I’m late for the party, but earlier this year, a live action adaptation of xxxHolic aired in Japan’s WOWOW. Instead of a movie like I had earlier envisioned, this was apparently a TV series, running for only eight episodes. This photo features Watanabe Anne as Ichihara Yuuko and Sometani Shota as Watanuki Kimihiro.

Has anyone seen this? Is it just me, or is an eight-episode TV series too short? I mean, I’ve seen “Boss”, another Japanese TV series, and it had only eleven episodes, but really? Just eight? Was it any good, or just really bad?

xxxHolic: Ichihara Yuuko

A mysterious and powerful magician, Ichihara Yuuko has a playful, free-spirited personality and is highly respected in the spirit realm. Although she grants her customers' wishes, Yuuko does not involve herself with them directly, appearing to prefer to stay in the background, controlling the situation without letting anyone know about it.

Yuuko is often associated with the symbol of a butterfly which, in Eastern philosophy is the symbol of a person's soul and transformation.

Patsy, a reader of Cosplay Holic, sent me this picture about a month ago. It took me a while to get this up as there were a lot of pending photos I had to post first. Most of my pictures are sent in be readers themselves, so... well, you get the idea.

Sorry it took so long, Patsy! Thanks for the awesome contribution! The cosplayer won best female during the 2nd Philippine Cosplay Convention. Anyone know who she is?

xxxHolic: Kunogi Himawari

Despite being an only child who has a strange power of causing people “bad luck”, Kunogi Himawari is a kind and cheerful girl who is Watanuki’s love interest. She is either oblivious of this fact or she doesn’t want to return his feelings because she also causes him bad luck.

Not everyone is affected by her strange powers though. Doumeki and her parents don’t recieve any bad luck being around her. But regardless of this strange phenomena, Himawari is said to be human.

She makes a very cute Himawari-chan don’t you think? :3

xxxHolic: Watanuki Kimihiro and Ichihara Yuuko

This is probably one of the best cosplays I’ve ever come across!

Then again, I tend to say that about all the cosplays I feature here don’t I?

Watanuki Kimihiro is an ordinary student in an ordinary world… But he has a secret. He can see ghosts, demons, and spirits! He meets Ichihara Yuuko, a time and space witch, who claims to have to ability to grant any wish, for a price! And what price does Watanuki have to pay to grant his wish to never see spirits again? Work in Yuuko’s shop as a part-time job, which includes cooking, cleaning and other household chores!
