They look absolutely adorable in this photo! Was there an episode when they had to wear maid outfits? Azusa doesn’t look very happy with what’s going on! Thanks to Walter for sending this in!

“Shrew Way to Go”
Lyrics and Translation by Anime Lyrics
Another cute Azusa to add to the list! I kinda wish she’s wearing cat ears for this one. Thanks to Bennett for sending this in!
Although she didn't have any musical experience at the beginning of the series, Hirasawa Yui has absolute pitch, the ability to identify or re-create a given musical note without an external reference. She can tune her guitar perfectly without a tuner, which impressed Azusa as she has been playing the guitar much longer than Yui has. She has a younger sister named Ui, who actually acts as Yui’s older sister, taking care of her and keeping her in line.
Cute cosplay by Misaki! It makes me wonder if she can also play that guitar like the character she’s cosplaying as. Thanks again to Millia for sending this and to MPzero for the awesome photography!
Akiyama Mio cited that she chose bass since it is not the center of attention in the band, unlike the guitarist. Similarly, she is the second vocalist of the band, but she tries to avoid taking the lead vocal if possible, generally singing if Hirasawa Yui is unable to. Mio is more technical when it comes to music, and Yui often comes to her when she is in need of more guitar tutorials.
This is Minatsuki Naru, a Japanese cosplayer from Ibaraki Prefecture. It looks like she’s using her real hair for this cosplay, which makes this extra special for me. Thanks to Millia for sending this and adding some information about the cosplayer!
Yui is apparently allergic to air conditioning, but she can’t stand being too hot or too cold in general. She is, however, immune to heat strokes for some reason or other.
Now correct me if I’m wrong, but Comiket 81 occurred during winter, didn’t it? Yui, aren’t you too cold in that swimsuit? Better cover up quickly before you catch a cold! Thanks to Paul for sending this in!
On the 4th of December 2011, Nico Nico, in cooperation with Japan’s largest cosplay community website “Cure”, came together to introduce the world to Japanese Cosplay Culture.
Niconico’s special stage replicated each cosplayer’s world in detail using 360 degree LED screens accompanied by powerful sound systems! Top cosplayers from popular anime series including Tiger and Bunny, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, Final Fantasy, Touhou Project, and even Vocaloid made their appearances on stage!
If you missed the event like I did, you can download the show through torrent. If you’re a cosplay fan, this is a rare chance for you to see your favorite cosplayers moving and without photoshop! Even Kipi made a special appearance dressed as Hatsune Miku!
Thanks to Marcello for letting me know about this! For now, I will leave you with a video of Danceroid members Ikura, Aikawa Kozue, Yuzuki, and Maam performing Maji Love 1000% from Uta no Prince-sama!
After the original four girls graduated from Sakura High, Azusa succeeded Tainaka Ritsu as President of the Light Music Club. In the manga, Suzuki Jun and Hirasawa Ui both joined the club immediately after the seniors graduated. In the anime however, it was revealed that, to Hirasawa Yui’s delight, Jun and Ui were practicing with Azusa in preparation for the year’s school opening session. This implies that Jun and Ui joined even before the seniors graduated in the anime. Azusa gets her own storyline with Jun and Ui in the latest issue of the manga.
Another amazing cosplay by Chamaro! Twintails really do suit her, don’t they? Thanks again to Mikan for sending this!
Yui has a habit of naming and talking to inanimate objects as if they were people; a trend that gradually included her bandmates and their instruments. She has named her guitar as “Gita”, Mio’s Bass as “Elizabeth” without Mio’s permission which annoyed her at first. Later, Nakano Azusa caught on and considered naming her own guitar “Muttan”.
Cute Yui by Singaporean cosplayer, Yivon! Yukino, the contributor, estimates Yivon to be around 13 years-old. Should I add this to the Chibi Section, I wonder? Thanks again to Yukino for sending this!
A hard-worker when it comes to her guitar playing, Hirasawa Yui can have incredible focus when she has a clear goal in sight. Unfortunately, this is limited to only one subject as a time. In one incident, Yui had to make up for her test scores in math and while she was able to bring her skills up to par, her guitar skills deteriorated quickly. Nevertheless, Yui plays her guitar with amazing energy and joy, much to the delight of her audience.
This is pretty awesome! And if she’s willing to share, I’d like a donut too please!
First found on Tumblr.
Azusa looks up to Mio from the light music club due to her maturity and experience as a bassist. Once, she even tried to give Mio chocolate for Valentine’s Day. However, she sometimes unintentionally points out Mio’s weaknesses, such as her weight. She also thinks Mugi is very beautiful, envious of her hair and large eyes.
To be honest, Azusa has nothing to be envious of. She herself is very talented and cute, right? Thanks to MP Zero for the awesome photography and also to Ange for the contribution!
The clumsy, lead vocalist of the light music club, Yui is easily distracted by trivialities especially when it comes to cute and adorable things. She does not get good grades in school, but is able to achieve astounding results when coached properly. She also has a huge liking for any kind of food and never gains weight, much to the envy of Mugi, Mio, and Sawako.
Mangaka Shinjo Mayu is the cosplayer behind this adorable Yui! And according to Pinch, the contributor, Mayu-tan is actually 37-years-young in this photo! I bet a lot of girls are jealous now. Thanks again, Pinch!
A self-proclaimed novice guitarist, Azusa has been playing the guitar since 4th grade. She is in the same year and class as Yui’s sister, Ui, and joins the light music club as their rhythm guitarist.
Although she does not understand the club’s tea parties and cosplaying activities, she has a weakness for cakes and therefore deals with them. Yui nicknamed her “Azu-nyan” after she tried on a pair of cat ears and meowed, and the fact that she could be calmed down at times just by petting.
Cute cosplay! And are those Touhou Project characters I see in the background? Thanks again to Yula for this photo!
Mio, Azusa, and Yui are all members of the light music club of their school. Mio plays a left-handed, 3-Color Sunburst Fender Jazz Bass with a tortoiseshell pickguard, though she was seen playing a Fender Precision Bass in the manga's first volume. Azusa is a rhythm guitarist who plays a Fender Mustang electric guitar. Yui, the main vocalist of the group, plays a Heritage Cherry Sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard electric guitar that she nicknames "Gita".
Aren’t they just adorable? I think I especially love Yui in this group photo. Who is your favorite? And thanks to Yula for sending this in!
A shy girl who is the back-up vocalist and a left-handed bass guitarist, Mio was forced to join the light music club thanks to her childhood friend, Tainaka Ritsu. She writes most of the band's songs, and helps Yui out with guitar tutorials. She also takes over the lead vocals whenever Yui is not able to perform, or more often than not, whenever Yui forgets the lyrics of the song.
The official Mio cosplayer from MoeHaku 2010! Don't you just adore that cute little hat of hers? Thanks to Fadora for sending this in!
Clumsy and easily spaces out from time to time, Yui is very passionate about playing the guitar and plays with amazing amounts of energy. She is very talented in music, able to tune her guitar without the aid of a tuner and can has perfect pitch, making her the vocalist of the group. However, she has been known to forget the lyrics of the song in mid-performance.
Cute Yui from Winter Comiket! I’m not familiar with K-On!, so maybe someone can tell me why she has clappers (I think that’s what they’re called anyway)? Thanks to Aya-chan for sending this in!
