Bakuman Movie’s Promotional Flyer

We’ve seen Sato Takeru and Kamiki Ryunosuke as Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito back in May 2014… but I thought you guys might want to see this promotional leaflet, since the illustrations they are holding originals by Obata Takeshi!

The film is a youth drama that depicts the struggles of 2 high school students: Moritaka Mashiro and Takagi Akito, as they strive to be a successful mangaka pair that aims to be serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump. The poster shows the two protagonists holding an illustration drawn by the manga artist, Obata Takeshi-sensei, himself.

In addition to Sato & Kamiki, the film also features a star-studded supporting cast headed by prolific young actor Sometani Shota as their rival mangaka - Niizuma Eiji, Komatsu Nana as the heroine - Azuki Miho, Yamada Takayuki, Lily Franky, Kudo Kankuro, Kiritani Kenta, Sarutoki Minagawa and Arai Hirofumi. The film is directed by One Hitoshi (Moteki).

"Bakuman" will be in Japanese theaters on October 03, 2015.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends

It looks like everyone is talking about Sato Takeru, Takei Emi, Aoki Munetaka, and director Otomo Keishi at the Asian Premier of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno at SM Megamall today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who were able to get tickets for the event. I did try my best with my entry, so I have no regrets as to what else I could have done.

Since the event looked so amazingly successful, maybe I’ll have another chance one day (and if it’s Watsuki Nobuhiro visiting the Philippines next time, I would come-close-enough-to-killing for a chance to meet him!). But for now, look at what’s been released at 映画『るろうに剣心』!

rurouni kenshin: the legend ends promotional poster

The sandy beach setting for this poster looks like the final battle ground from the manga between Yukishiro Enishi and Kenshin, but Enishi didn’t wear a traditional kimono. I remember that he went to China, and even studied Chinese sword fighting, so who could this be?

Whoever it is, I’m sure that this movie will be a great ending for this amazing live-action trilogy. Thanks to Denis for sending this in!

Rurouni Kenshin: Himura Kenshin 03

Did you know that the character, Himura Kenshin, is based on a real samurai of the late Edo period?

Watsuki Nobuhiro discovered and used the story of Kawakami Gensai, a hitokiri executed by the Meiji Government. Kawakami was said to be a highly skilled swordsman, and he was one of the four most notable assassins of the Bakumatsu period. Kawakami was the only practitioner of the high-speed sword discipline known as the Shiranui-ryu.

According to Watsuki, when he found that Kawakami maintained a duty to his dead comrades, he decided to create the title character of the Rurouni Kenshin series, Himura Kenshin, also known as Hitokiri Battousai.

August can’t come any sooner! I’m so excited to see this new movie! I’m sure I’ll be pestering anyone and everyone to watch with me! Thanks to Hina for sending this in!

Bakuman Live Action

sato takeru and kamiki ryunosuke in bakuman live actionA live action film for Bakuman has just been green-lit for release in 2015 according to Anime News Network, and Rurouni Kenshin stars Sato Takeru (Himura Kenshin / Battousai) and Kamiki Ryunosuke (Seta Soujiro) have been cast for the lead roles as Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito respectively!

Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O, Beck, Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru, Ryōmaden) plays Moritaka Mashiro, a boy who aspires to be a manga artist, and Ryunosuke Kamiki (Howl's Moving Castle, Summer Wars, The Secret World of Arrietty, The Princess and the Pilot) plays his classmate and story collaborator Akito Takagi. The film follows Mashiro and Takagi as they walk the path to becoming manga creators. The two lead actors happen to also co-star as Kenshin Himura and Sōjirō Seta in the upcoming live-action sequel film Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen).

I am squealing with joy while hyperventilating with excitement! I can’t help but think this is Kenshin’s and Soujiro’s reincarnation into modern times, but heck, 2015 can’t get here soon enough!

Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc Trailer

To be honest, I wasn’t all that impressed with how Shishio looked in this movie. However, the first trailer that came out only showed a few seconds of his profile.

With this official trailer, I have to say, I can’t wait for August 1 to arrive! Not only does Shishio look more menacing than ever, but Shinomori Aoshi also appears to be quite impressive! I gotta hand it to the people handling this live action movie. It really brings back a lot of fond memories for me. Thanks to Mika for sharing this with me!

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action 3rd Trailer

Another trailer has been released for the Rurouni Kenshin Live Action film by Warner Brothers Japan! We see a little more of Eguchi Yosuke as Saitou Hajime, but I still don't know how he's going to incorporated into the story so early on.

Not that I'm complaining, of course, but I really hope they release this soon! Thanks again to 愛子 藤原 for sharing this!

Rurouni Kenshin: Kamiya Kaoru, Myojin Yahiko, Takani Megumi, and Himura Kenshin

rurouni kenshin cosplay - kamiya kaoru, myojin yahiko, takani megumi, and himura kenshin

When Megumi escaped from Takeda’s mansion, she ended up in a gambling house where Sanosuke and Kenshin were playing dice. She then asked for their help, and later accompanies them back to the Kamiya dojo. Kaoru was furious that Kenshin brought a female stranger to her home, and Megumi decided to play the flirt, making several advances to Kenshin.

You have no idea how excited I am over this movie! I think the entire cast will do a pretty good job and these sneak peak photos are proof of that! Thanks to Mike for sharing this!

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action 2nd Trailer

Yes, I know I already posted the first trailer, but oh dear… Sato-san’s got the part right, down to the “Oro” and “de gozaru”! Haha~ It’s so cute that I couldn’t resist! Takei-san is also very convincing as Kaoru! And we get to see Aoki-san as Sanosuke in this trailer!

Ok, I’m rambling. Please watch and enjoy!

Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Trailer

I was quite skeptical about this piece of news when I first heard about it. However, after viewing this 40 second trailer, I’ve realized that this possibly has all the ingredients of a very epic movie.

And they also have an all star cast:

Although I have to admit, this is rather confusing. Saitou Hajime was introduced during Shishio Makoto’s arc, not Udou Jine’s. Further more, Takeda Kanryuu is the antagonist of Takani Megumi’s arc which was also before Shishio’s. This leaves me to wonder how they’ll add Saitou to the mix… Could this movie’s ending be left hanging as an intro for a second movie? There have been talks of Warner Bros. Japan wanting to turn this into a series…

Now I can’t wait for 2012.
