RahXephon: The RahXephon

rahxephon cosplay - the rahxephonThe RahXephon is a bipedal, humanoid mecha born from an egg in the underground ruins of Tokyo. It is several stories tall, immensely strong, and is capable of unassisted flight. This mecha is connected physically, mentally, and emotionally to its instrumentalist, Kamina Ayato.

It is later revealed that the RahXephon was created by Ernst von Bähbem as a tool for re-tuning the world. Ayato succeeded in becoming one with the RahXephon and re-tuned the world so that the great dimensional split never happened and Tokyo Jupiter never existed.

Mecha cosplays are always really impressive to me, because most of the time, the cosplayers make these armors themselves! Talk about dedication to their craft! And I’m pretty sure those suits can’t be all that comfortable and easy to move in. Thanks to Tempura-sama for sharing this!

Mobile Suit Gundam Girl 02

mobile suit gundam girl 02I am practically clueless when it comes to the makes and models of Gundams, so maybe someone can tell me from which series this cosplayer is portraying as?

I guess Gundam Girls have been pretty popular ever since. This looks like a scanned photo from somewhere, and if you take a closer look on the upper right-hand corner, there’s a little date that reads “12 2 ‘04”, so I’m guessing that this was taken in 2004. But even though the photo is old, it’s still pretty impressive, don’t you think? Thanks to Cali for sending this in!

Gundam Unicorn: RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Girl

Source: Eunice on Facebook
The Unicorn is a product of the “UC Project”, part of the Earth Federation Space Force’s reorganization plan and developed by the Vist Foundation. This experimental mobile suit contains a psycoframe, a special “La+ Program” OS that turns the enemy’s psycommu weapons against them, and the so-called NT-D system which automatically triggers the Unicorn’s Destroy Mode. Once it is in Destroy Mode, the Unicorn’s armor plates slide out, revealing a glowing red inner frame, while the head transforms into a traditional Gundam head.

It seems Gundam Girls are getting more and more popular these days. It’s pretty amazing how detailed these suits turn out, and the cosplayers have to walk around in them too! Thanks to Jane for sending this in!

Rockman 2: Air Man

rockman / mega man 2 cosplay - air man

A Robot Master created by Dr. Wily, Air Man can generate powerful winds with the propeller in his torso to pull or push enemies. He can also attack with small tornadoes using his Air Shooter. Air Man dislikes Fall season because the leaves get stuck in his fan, which is why he’s weak to Leaf Shield.

I’m so surprised with how good this looks. Cosplaying from this series is certainly a challenge with all the armor and strange proportions, but I really love how this turned out. Please view the original photo uploaded to Facebook by Ssm!

Gundam: Exia, RX-78, Z-plus

There is no way that I am a Gundam expert, and neither is my Chinese language skills all that well, so I’m relying on the comments posted in the video’s page to say that this is a “family” of Gundams: Exia, RX-78, and Z-Plus! Please do correct me if I’m wrong, and feel free to comment on their proper names so I can edit this!

…and am I right to say this was actually a wedding? Oh wow, talk about a unique approach! Thank you so much to Tania for sharing this video with us!

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi / Zeta Gundam: Nagato Yuki and RX-178 Gundam Mk-II

the melancholy of suzumiya haruhi cosplay - nagato yuki / zeta gundam cosplay - rx-178 gundam mk-iiYou can probably tell that's Nagato Yuki from The Menlancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi giving a notice to the Gundam; but that’s just the thing: I have no idea what Gundam model and make that is! And those “03” markings make me think it’s an Eva Unit more than a Gundam.

So I shall be leaving this in the Unknown section while I quietly sit down and wait for my readers to let me know from which series that Gundam is from… please? While I try to figure out how to title this blog entry properly seeing we have a crossover between two series. A very cute one at that. Thanks to again to Miriam for sending this!

EDIT: Thanks to anon for identifying the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II from the Zeta series!

Gundam 00: GN-001 Gundam Exia

gundam 00 cosplay - gn-001 gundam exiaA Gundam piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei, the GN-001 Gundam Exia is designed for melee combat, with several swords, blades, and arm shields. It was later commented in the series that the Exia is equipped with a solid metal blade in order to have the ability to cut through GN particle fields.

I could continue on with the technicalities, but that would make this review boring and inappropriate compared to how awesome this cosplay is. It must have taken weeks to make this Gundam. Very nicely done!

Mobile Suit Gundam Girl

mobile suit gundam girl by krizelle uychincoFirst seen in Anime Quest 2001, this Gundam Girl was portrayed by one of the many well known cosplayers in the Philippines.

Her name is Krizelle Uychinco. One could arguably say that she became famous because of this very cosplay, featured even in Culture Crash, the Philippine's premier comic magazine. Leandro Polidario is the creator of the costume who used sheet foam rubber instead of cardboard for the costume to be strong and durable enough for Krizelle to wear.

Cool looking cosplay isn't it? And very unique. I doubt there are a lot of people who've attempted this cosplay. I'm just glad I was able to find a photo of her! Awesome job, Krizelle! And great job to Leandro too for making the costume!

Gundam Seed: ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam

gundam seed cosplay - ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam

Forget the perfect grade Gundam model kits! Here’s a cosplay of the mecha ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam from Gundam Seed!

Quite speechless with this one, really. I wonder how long it took the cosplayer to finish this?

Transformers Cosplay(?!)

Yes, you heard that right. It’s a Transformers Cosplay. Frankly, I’m speechless. These guys really spent a lot of time and effort on their cosplays.

It’s really something else… I especially like the Optimus Prime one. I was so amazed that I thought it would be worthy to put as a double post for the day.

Enjoy!
