Transformers: Optimus Prime (Kre-O)

Always serious and responsible, Optimus Prime does not care for the hi-jinks of the other Kreons. He believes that it is their responsibility to ensure all brick-made beings are able to live in freedom. He likes sending Bumblebee on missions so that he can get some work done instead of worrying about whose bricks he’ll rearrange next.

Another Kre-O Transformer at the Age of Extinction event in Megamall last May 2014! Just look at how adorable this thing is! I need to convince my nephew to build one of this size, maybe for the Toy Museum?

Transformers: Bumblebee (Kre-O)

Bumblebee thinks he’s the coolest Kreon of them all, Autobots or Decepticons alike. Whenever he’s not punking the other Autobots, he likes cruising on the freeway at top speed. He also likes hanging out wherever there are lot of humans and loud music.

I found this adorable looking Bumblebee last 18th of May at the Transformers: Age of Extinction Event in Megamall. My nephew is a huge fan of this toy line, so we got to take a lot of photos of this cosplay. He also took advantage of the huge sale from Toy Kingdom too, and manage to get a ton of savings.

Crystal Shadows: Erin Kiraly and Jeremy Chan

When foreign exchange student Jeremy Chan first entered Crescent Academy, he was bullied by his peers because of his tall, lanky appearance and his Cantonese accent. However, that didn’t stop Erin Kiraly from befriending him, even though she was one of the most popular girls in school.

A few years later, they entered high school and it seems their roles have been completely reversed! Not only that, they act as if they barely know each other despite what first appeared to be a fruitful friendship! What could have happened between them that changed their lives completely?

This would be one of the reasons why Cosplay Holic was been idle lately… My dear friends, Eleniel Mist and Novanjon Ignacio Novo have agreed to cosplay Erin and Jeremy from my webcomic, “Crystal Shadows”. We did a photo shoot during GTMACCON 3 at Fisher Mall and got a ton of really amazing photos! I really loved how they turned out! And hopefully, you guys wouldn’t mind if I show them off here for a while!

Unknown Cosplay #148

I realize this might sound really bad as a cosplay judge, but I forgot who the character the cosplayer is portraying as! I’m really sorry! But I do remember his performance which started with a few, heavy sword slashes and ended with a short dance of PSY’s “Gentleman”. I would have posted the Gentleman photo of this cosplay if it wasn’t so blurry!

If anyone can tell me who this character is and who’s the cosplayer underneath the armor, feel free to comment!

Marvel: War Machine

Due to Obadiah Stane's actions, Stark International began losing foreign contacts and thus fell into heavy debt. Tony Stark relapsed into alcoholism and was defeated by Magma. It was then that James Rupert “Rhodey” Rhodes first donned the Iron Man armor and defeated Magma. Stark proposed to Rhodes to take his place as Iron Man as both his company and personal life were in disarray.

This was another impressive cosplay from the Oh No! Manga OCTO CON 2 because of all the lights and moving parts in his armor. He even had the sound effects to go with his catwalk! I just hope the cosplayer didn’t have a hard time, since it must be pretty hot under all that armor.

Chobits / Marvel: Chi and Deadpool

While waiting for the second batch of cosplayers to walk on to the stage, I saw this adorable scene of Chi sitting with Deadpool. I think a conversation between these two characters would be pretty interesting, so even though the photo is pretty blurry, I wanted to feature them anyway.

I found out on the Octo Con event page that Deadpool’s cosplayer is Mark Anthony Vibas. He was pretty funny when he danced to Hatsune Miku’s “The World is Mine”, and he was a great stand up comedian too! I do hope I get to see more of him and his cosplays in future events.

Oh No! Manga Octocon 2013 Cosplay Competition Judges

So, as requested, here is a photo of Miss Jia Gold Bustamante, Neneko, and myself while were waiting for the cosplay competition to start. It was a great honor to meet two very famous cosplayers, and even though my Chinese is not very good, I still managed to talk a little with Neneko after the convention.

Miss Jia and I were both pretty surprised that we both had red hair. I like hers better though… I want long hair too!

Parasite Eve: Mitochondria Eve

The main villainess of the series, Mitochondria Eve is a fictional character who pays homage to the African woman, or more likely a group of African women, whose mitochondria genome was descended to all human beings today. In the game, Mitochondria Eves are women who have been taken over by the consciousness of the mitochondria, or “energy factories”, in their cells. Although their powers differ, all Eves have the ability to affect the mitochondria of other living animals to produce excessive adenosine triphosphate, resulting in spontaneous combustion.

Her hands and hair were the most impressive features of her cosplay. I’ve played Parasite Eve before, and that look she gave the audience made me shiver a little. Wish I had a better photo though! But those are the breaks!

Card Captor Sakura: Yue 02

Just as Cerberus is the elector of the new Clow Card Master, Yue is the judge who tests the candidate if they are worthy of the position. Unlike Cerberus, however, Yue is heavily dependent on the power of his master. During his first few appearances in this form, Sakura’s powers were not enough to sustain him, and his human self, Yukito, had to compensate by means of food and sleep.

A cosplay judge is not supposed to play favorites, but oh my goodness. I had a sneaking suspicion this cosplayer had something up his sleeve when I saw a pair of folded wings behind him. Imagine my surprise when those wings opened and closed on stage! Kudos to you sir! I want wings like that too!

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Dark Magician

At the height of his battle with Thief King Bakura in Ancient Egypt, Mahad fused his Life Spirit with the “Illusion Magician” to create the Dark Magician. He continued to serve his Pharaoh in this form. The Dark Magician’s card inscription writes:

The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.

One Piece: Dracule “Hawk-Eye” Mihawk

One of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Dracule Mihawk is said to be the strongest swordsman in the world. His sword resembles a zweihänder, a two-handed sword used in during the Renaissance period, only his is much larger and has a curved, single-edged blade. Mihawk served as Roronoa Zoro’s swordsmanship teacher during the two-year time skip.

I hope you guys don’t mind the amount of features for today! What impressed me about this cosplayer the most was that sword. He managed to carry it around the con, and even wield it on stage without much of a problem. I wonder how he made it?

RWBY: Weiss Schnee

An allusion of Snow White, Weiss Schnee is German for “white” and “snow” respectively. Not much is known about the character as of yet, but she is the wielder of the Myrtenaster, a rapier equipped with glyphs that channel the energy of Dust.

I’m a little sad that the photo is not as clear as it could be. This was the best I could do given my situation as a judge of the cosplay competition. Maybe next time, I will just go as a photographer. Who knows?

Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen: Kirakishou

Oh No! Manga OCTO CON 2 has come and gone, and I have a few decent photos to share with you guys. If I could, I would have taken a lot more, but I was the judge for the Cosplay, Art, and Coloring competitions, so you can imagine how busy I was running here and there!

It was a great experience overall though… I would tell you all about it, but I’m pretty sure you’re all more interested with the photos instead, yes? Let’s hop to it then!

The true seventh Rozen Maiden doll, Kirakishou has a disturbed mindset who, despite lacking a physical body, can still affect real world events. She can only exist in the N-Field, and has the ability to trap her sisters, including people’s consciousness, into the N-Field by sealing them into white crystals. She was later assembled by Jun, and Kirakishou refers to him as her “master”.

She was definitely one of the most memorable cosplayers who participated in the Oh No! Manga OCTO CON 2. Why, you ask? Well, she effectively scared me when she suddenly appeared in front of the judges table when I was looking for her on stage!

“Will you be my master?” she said… I may be getting a few more nightmares after this…

Brave 10: Isanami

Once a priestess of the Izumo Shrine, Isanami is known to be the goddess of murder and slaughter. She is the most optimistic among the Sanada Ten Braves, but she can sense people’s emotions and has the ability to take away many peoples lives using her dark powers. Isanami is also known to be a healthy eater who loves soba noodles and sweets.

I didn’t even recognize Tracy when she approached me during the Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2: The Coin & Flour Saga event! I was completely embarrassed when she called my name! Some friend I am, right? I hope this photo turned out ok!

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled: Leila Malkal

Daughter of a Britannian nobles, Leila Malkal was defected to the E.U. along with her entire family for disagreeing with the dated system rule in the empire. Leila was actually adopted by the Malkal family after her parents passed away. She became a Major in the E.U. Army and served as an adjutant to Commander Anou in the W-0 Unit.

A very lovely cosplay of Leila by Filipina cosplayer, Miss Jia Gold Bustamante! This was taken during the Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2: The Coin & Flour Saga, but I’ve only managed to process the photos today! I apologize for that! But I sincerely hope I managed to photograph Miss Jia well.

Silent Destiny Onusa: Popi

In a land far from our own reality, Serapi has disaster lurking in its shadows and according to legend, only the Silencer can stop it.

Meet Popi, our ever-lovable a 13th grader who was transported from another dimension in order to become Serapi’s Silencer. Could he really become the savior of this realm (or get caught up with something else entirely)?

Looking for a… Better Boyfriend: Jun Wenceslao, Series Creator Enjelia Villanueva, and Yuriel Piaris Madela

You’ve all met Jun Wenceslao on a previous entry, so now I’ll introduce another character from the series, Yuriel Piaris “Yupi” Madela as cosplayed by Mary Ann Jocson.

With the way she acts and speaks, you’ll never guess that Yupi was actually a boy. No, he’s not cross-dressing, but he she’s in the same dilemma as our heroine, Jun. She was also transformed into a girl, but unlike Jun, she seems to be enjoying herself and doesn’t act like a boy at all.

I wonder what happened to Yupi that made her act that way? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the next chapters to come out! And the girl between Ershn and Mary Ann? That’s the series creator, Enjelia Villanueva!

On another note, I need to remember to take more photos of the creators with their cosplayers some day.

300 Perfect Game: Iincho with Series Creator, Jeff Nice

Back in Junior High, Iincho (the Class President) was a sweet, loving, perfect girlfriend to Bob, a loveable loser who is completely devoted and loyal to Iincho. However, after the tragic death of Iincho’s father, she broke up with Bob and become quite the terror of a class president. Bob will stop at nothing to get his childhood sweetheart back, but will the charming new transfer student, Andrew, beat him to it?

Here’s something you don’t get to see everyday. Not only was I able to take a photo of Eleniel Mist cosplaying (and literally role-playing) Iincho, but she’s with the series’ creator, Jeff Nice!
