Doraemon: Dorami and Doraemon

In March 2008, Japan’s Foreign Ministry appointed Doraemon as the nation's first “anime ambassador”. The Ministry spokesman explained that the novel decision was an attempt to help people in other countries understand Japanese anime better, as well as to deepen their interest in Japanese culture. The Foreign Ministry’s action confirms that Doraemon is now considered to be a Japanese cultural icon.

On September 3, 2012, Doraemon was granted official residence in the city of Kawasaki, celebrating one hundred years before he was born.

No wonder there’s another pair of cosplayers from the series this year. I didn’t know Doraemon was still this popular. Thanks again to 4chanatic for sending this in!

Doraemon's younger sister, Dorami lives in the 22nd-century Tokyo with Sewashi, Nobi Nobita's great-great-grandson. She is far more advanced than her older brother, but is known to be afraid of cockroaches. Her favorite food is melonpan.

Doraemon: Dorami

Doraemon’s little sister, Dorami became siblings with Doraemon because they drank out of each other’s oil cans. Dorami is more quick-witted and brighter because she drank the lower portion of the oil which contains more nutrients than the upper portion. She is manufactured on the 2nd of December 2114, 2 years after her brother was made.

So cute! I love how her apron pocket has the same pattern as the one on Dorami’s belly. Thanks again to Haley for sending this!

Doraemon: Doraemon

A blue robotic cat from the 22nd century, Doraemon is manufactured on the 3rd of September 2112 bearing the code MS-903 at the Matsushiba Robot Factory. Doraemon is considered to be a substandard product because many of his robotic features malfunctioned after production. During his manufacture, he got struck by lightning and lost an important screw in his brain, affecting his performance in both studies and socializing.
