Cosplay Holic will be at the Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2, 7th of July 2013!

I’ll be lurking at Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2: The Coin & Flour Saga as an unofficial photographer, just like last time! Since I’m also one of the premier artists of the manga anthology, I won’t be able to take a lot of photos, put please pass by the Indie Island, tables 5 through 9 and say hi!

And in case I’m not at the Indies tables, I’ll probably wear my gray neko beanie for the event. See you there!

D.Ice: Icarus Quinto and Isa Ortega

Detectives are seekers of truth.

Even though they fight crime, the don’t necessarily do the action stunts, hold a licensed gun, or know martial arts. They simply seek the truth and expose it. They are on the side of justice.

That’s their style.

However… there is a special detective who has his own style…

Unlike the usual investigators, he has an eccentric behavior which is highlighted by his deviant taste in clothing.

He is Detective Icarus Quinto, the Blue Detective.

I wasn’t able to take a proper photo of the blue detective and his lovely assistant, Isa Ortega by Ira Orduna, so I will have to borrow Ray’s photo for now. Would you believe me if I told you the author and artist of D.Ice is also the cosplayer himself? Now that is what I call dedication! Thank you once again for Ray for sharing this!

Oh, and the cosplayers in the background? You’ll probably recognize them all! That’s Yupi on the left, Iincho in the center, and Rei on the right.

Silent Destiny Onusa: Popi

In a land far from our own reality, Serapi has disaster lurking in its shadows and according to legend, only the Silencer can stop it.

Meet Popi, our ever-lovable a 13th grader who was transported from another dimension in order to become Serapi’s Silencer. Could he really become the savior of this realm (or get caught up with something else entirely)?

Guess we’ll all have to wait for the next issue to come out to answer that question. I hope the cosplayer like this photo I took of him!

Looking for a… Better Boyfriend: Jun Wenceslao, Series Creator Enjelia Villanueva, and Yuriel Piaris Madela

You’ve all met Jun Wenceslao on a previous entry, so now I’ll introduce another character from the series, Yuriel Piaris “Yupi” Madela as cosplayed by Mary Ann Jocson.

With the way she acts and speaks, you’ll never guess that Yupi was actually a boy. No, he’s not cross-dressing, but he she’s in the same dilemma as our heroine, Jun. She was also transformed into a girl, but unlike Jun, she seems to be enjoying herself and doesn’t act like a boy at all.

I wonder what happened to Yupi that made her act that way? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the next chapters to come out! And the girl between Ershn and Mary Ann? That’s the series creator, Enjelia Villanueva!

On another note, I need to remember to take more photos of the creators with their cosplayers some day.

300 Perfect Game: Iincho with Series Creator, Jeff Nice

Back in Junior High, Iincho (the Class President) was a sweet, loving, perfect girlfriend to Bob, a loveable loser who is completely devoted and loyal to Iincho. However, after the tragic death of Iincho’s father, she broke up with Bob and become quite the terror of a class president. Bob will stop at nothing to get his childhood sweetheart back, but will the charming new transfer student, Andrew, beat him to it?

Here’s something you don’t get to see everyday. Not only was I able to take a photo of Eleniel Mist cosplaying (and literally role-playing) Iincho, but she’s with the series’ creator, Jeff Nice! You might want to check out the hilarious webcomic, now 8 chapters and running! Thanks for posing for me, guys! Until the next convention!

Coin and Flour: Flour and Coin

Meet Flour, one of Heaven’s mail separators, and Coin, Hell’s delivery man. Two separate fates, two separate worlds, two completely different individuals who will eventually meet at the crossroads of destiny. Could an angel and a demon really find love?

This is probably one of my favorite series from Oh No! Manga. And the characters are cosplayed beautifully by Loki Heart and Jemkun AppleSeed! My thanks to photographer Erving Go for allowing me to share this on site!

Looking for a… Better Boyfriend: Jun Wenceslao

When Jun Wenceslao broke up with her last boyfriend, she never realized that a drink of her favorite chocolate milk would change her life forever… literally.

You see, having a mad scientist for a mother is not as easy and fun as it may sound. That chocolate milk drink? Well, it turned Jun from being a heart-broken girl into a full-fledged guy (yes, it’s “hanging there” according to Chapter 2) overnight!

“If I were to become a guy, then I would never make a girl cry!”

Guess we’ll just have to see if Jun can stay true to her his word. For now, I hope you like the photo! And in case you’re wondering, yes, the cosplayer, Ershn Yves is a guy and yes, that really is the 23-foot Unicorn Gundam in the background.

Jet Loaf: Loaf

In planet Kapopo, everyone has a halo above their heads fashioned according to a specific animal. Each halo has a tail, and the length of which is determined by the person’s wisdom, knowledge, and abilities.

Loaf has one of the longest tails the manga has introduced, and yet despite being sought after by many established universities, she prefers to beta test video games in the comfort of her own home!

Personally, I would prefer being a beta tester over teaching any time, but I’m not as smart as she is. I guess we’ll have to wait for the next book to come out to know more about her. This photo is making me hungry…

Karma: Rei Kuassary

Rei Kuassary is a guardian angel who cares deeply for the human race. She is quite noble and considerate, but she will not tolerate anyone who takes advantage of another's kindness. She wields the Fire Blade and is nicknamed “The Smiling Angel”.

This is the real reason why I was at the Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp. Two of my original series have finally been published and Tracy is cosplaying one of the main characters, Angel Rei!

That would be the sword I made, but Tracy made those wings herself (which was a really pleasant surprise because I thought there wouldn’t be any wings at all!)

Yes, I am a very happy mangaka.

Cosplay Camp (and a Little Sword Tutorial)

Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp 2012 will be starting in a few hours, and I’ve managed to create a cosplay prop sword from my premier series, “Karma”!

I encourage everyone to attend as I will also be taking pictures of the cosplayers attending to be featured on Cosplay Holic. But of course, not everyone is from the Philippines, so I decided that I should add the sword tutorial for this post as well.

It’s not a formal tutorial, but you can find my work in progress posts in my blog:

• Initial skeleton and strengthening
• Blade finishing
• Hilt: the cross guard, hand guard, and pommel
• Design detailing
• Painting
• Final Result

A formal tutorial should be posted in a few days. For now, I’ll leave you guys with this, and if you have any questions, you can post a comment here or in each of my blog posts for anything specific.

Oh No! Manga Cosplay Camp

For all cosplayers and cosplay fanatics in the Philippines: one of the biggest cosplay event of the season is coming this July!

Oh No! Manga’s official series launch will include a Cosplay Camp with special guests, Ryan Simbul and Loki Heart revealing their secrets and techniques in costume-making!

There will also be a cosplay competition with very hot prizes including a netbook laptop, Nokia C3, and a Hatsune Miku figure!

Better hurry! If you buy your tickets before July 16, you may get a chance to win 1 of 4 kimonos from Loki’s Heaven!

The event will take place in SM North Edsa’s Sky Dome on the 29th of July 2012. I may be going as a secret photographer during the event, so there might be a vast feature of cosplayers from the Philippines in Cosplay Holic soon! See you there! >w<;;;
