Soul Eater: Death the Kid

Son of Shinigami and Meister of the Thompson sisters, Death the Kid has a severe obsessive-compulsive disorder for symmetry. He breaks down upon seeing anything that is unbalanced even by the slightest measurement, sometimes to the point of vomiting blood and collapsing. He chose to wield the Thompson sisters as twin guns to preserve his personal symmetry.

Photographer Bethany contributed this photo from Melbourne Anime Festival 2009! I’m actually quite interested to know what the cosplayer did to paint the white stripes on his hair. I hope the cosplayer will eventually find my blog one day so that we’ll know! Thanks again, Bethany!

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII: Zack Fair

Protagonist to the prequel of Final Fantasy VII, Zack Fair is a 2nd Class SOLDIER who worked as a subordinate under his close friend and mentor, Angeal Hewley. He was one of the people assigned to accompany Sephiroth and two grunts, one of which being Cloud Strife, on a mission of Nibelheim to find the cause of a Mako reactor malfunction. He was the original owner of Cloud’s trademark weapon, the Buster Sword.

Very impressive looking Zack and with a detailed Buster Sword! Though I’m a little bit puzzled by the shoes, but that’s a minor detail. Thanks to Karen for sending this in!

Hunter x Hunter: Hisoka

A complex character who seemingly sides with no one, Hisoka was first introduced when Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio were taking their Hunter Exam. They learned that Hisoka was considered the most dangerous examinee as he had tried to kill one of the members of the examination committee during a previous test. However, he prevented Gon and Killua from entering the 200th floor of Heavens Arena until they learned Nen, thus keeping them from being permanently harmed by other floor fighters eager to perform the “initiation” ritual.

Vampire Knight: Kageyama Kasumi

The President of Yuki’s and Zero’s Class, Kageyama Kasumi is one of Ruka’s biggest fans. He was upset when Yuki got a failing grade in their exams because she pulled their class average down to the lowest rank in the entire level. Their class was then assigned to decorate the hall for Cross Academy’s Dance Festival, which made Kageyama think that he would not be able to dance with Ruka that night. Despite his best efforts in finishing their class duties as soon as possible, Ruka still turned him down, choosing to dance with Kain Akatsuki instead.

One of the minor characters from Vampire Knight, but I had wished he had more screen time. I was actually glad to see that ~Michiaki took the time to make this cosplay! Thanks also to ~Efryee, the photographer!

The Prince of Tennis: Niou Masaharu 02

Known as “The Trickster” from Rikkai Junior High School, Niou Masaharu's technique in playing tennis is to imitate the styles of other players. In this way, he can trick his opponents into thinking they are playing against another person. He often copies his doubles partner, Yagyuu Hiroshi, to confuse their opponents.

I’m pretty sure this is a cosplay Niou, which makes me a little uncertain about that Unknown Cosplay I wrote last November. I know several readers have commented that he was also Niou, but now I’m not so sure. Anyway, thanks to Umeshi for sending this in!

D. Gray-Man: Lavi 02

A cheerful exorcist of mixed race, Lavi's goal since childhood is to become a Bookman; a person who records the hidden history of the world. He disregarded his real name and took on 48 different aliases before settling on the name “Lavi”. He originally worked along the Black Order in order to fulfill his duty as a Bookman but slowly becomes more attached to his friends and teammates.

Awesome looking Lavi! And I’m glad Rangiku sent this with the information on who he’s cosplaying as since I’m not familiar with D. Gray-Man at all. Otherwise, he might have ended up in the Unknown Section again!

Ichigo 100%: Toujou Aya

This photo is one of the first few cosplays that I’ve ever had in my collection.

I actually thought she was just a school girl from Japan. I didn’t think much of it until I went through the website and realized there were many different photos of anime characters in the web album.

I never really found out who she was cosplaying as, and I can’t remember which website I saw this from as it was several years back. If it were a recent photo, my first guess would have been Makinami Mari Illustrious from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Anyone got a better idea?

Final Fantasy VII: Sephiroth and Jenova

One the best and most powerful member of the elite warriors of Shinra, Sephiroth is well known for his skills during the war. Unfortunately, when he was sent on a mission to the village of Nibelheim, he discovered that he was only a product of a biological experiment using Jenova cells. This drove Sephiroth to insanity, burning down the entire village and killing several civilians. He was assumed dead after his confrontation with Cloud Strife, but reappears 4 years after the incident and kills Shinra's president in the process.

Beautiful cosplay! And as Phoenix, the contributor, said "unique because it actually showed Sephiroth and Jenova". Wish I had more pictures of this cosplayer! Thanks for sharing this!

Princess Tutu: Princess Tutu and Princess Kraehe

Rivals in winning the love and favor of Prince Mytho, Princess Tutu will stop at nothing to retrieve her beloved Prince’s shattered heart, while Princess Kraehe will stop at nothing to prevent returning his heart shards fearing she will lose him to someone else. Princess Tutu loved the Prince unselfishly and, despite knowing she would disappear once she confesses her love for him, fulfilled her duty that he may find true happiness and smile once more. Incidentally, Princess Kraehe loved the Prince ever since childhood, as the Prince once defended her from the Ravens.

Two Princesses who love the same Prince in different yet similar ways. Twins Genki-uHinagiku and Miaka2u are the cosplayers behind the lovely Princesses. They apparently spent more than 500 hours each on their costumes with beautiful results!

Pokemon: Satoshi

In the beginning of the hit anime series Pokemon, Ash Ketchum is only 10-years-old and started out as a beginner Pokemon trainer in Pallet town. He failed in receiving one of the three Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle) Professor Oak was giving to hopeful youngsters because he was too busy dreaming about becoming a world famous Pokemon trainer. His eagerness made Professor Oak consider giving Ash his last remaining Pokemon, the unruly and now infamous Pikachu for his starter Pokemon, allowing Ash to begin his journey.

Awesome cosplay! I love how much the cosplayer paid attention to the details of Ash’s costume down to the plush Pikachu! I have one exactly like it, but I doubt I could cosplay Ash just as well. Thanks to Tamari for sending this in!

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion: Lelouch Lamperouge and Kururugi Suzaku

Lelouch of Britannia and Suzaku of Japan first met when Lelouch and his sister, Nunally moved to the Kururugi residence as a diplomatic peace trade. Suzaku initially thought Lelouch was a prince who did not care for anyone other than himself, but as he came to know him better, they became the best of friends. They were separated from one another when Britannia invaded Japan, but were reunited once more in the Shinjuku Ghetto.

Beautiful cosplay! I can see a smirk in Lelouch’s face which is actually how I picture him to be. Suzaku looks very charming as well. Thanks to Tamina for sending this in!

Hunter x Hunter: Kuroro Lucifer and Feitan

Originating from Meteor City, a junkyard inhabited by outcasts, Chrollo Lucifer is the leader of the gang of thieves known as the Phantom Troupe. Feitan is one of his members, but after his victory over Zazan, he has been granted temporary control over the group. Feitan is one of the original 6 members of the Phantom Troupe, until it was later expanded to a total of 13 members.
