prison school live action tv series cast

Popular manga series, “Prison School” will be receiving a live-action drama television series adaptation that will air in MBS on October 25 at 24:50 and TBS on October 27 at 25:11. The series is directed by Iguchi Noboru at production studio Robot.

Iguchi said with a laugh that when he heard about the live-action television plans, he initially asked, "Is this for real?" He felt that if he squandered this chance to adapt this amusing manga, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

Death Note TV Series

death note tv series cosplay - ryuk, yagami light by kubota masataka, l lawliet by yamazaki kento, and near by yuki mio

Popular manga series Death Note received a TV drama series that premiered last July 5, 2015. It was directed by Inomata Ryuichi, known for his work on Kaseifu no Mita, and Nishimura Ryo, who worked on the special version of the 2014 drama Kamen Teacher. The adaptation featured several talented actors, including:

  • Kubota Masataka as Yagami Light
  • Yamazaki Kento as L. Lawliet
  • Yuki Mio as Near / Mello
  • Sano Hinako as Amane Misa
  • Matsushige Yutaka as Yagami Soichiro
  • Fujiwara Reiko as Yagami Sayu
  • Maeda Goki as Matsutuda Tota
  • Yuge Tomohisa as Aizawa Shuichi
  • Sato Jiro as Mogi Kanzo
  • Seki Megumi as Himura Shoko / Halle Lidner
  • Hankai Kazuaki as Watari

I’ve heard mixed reviews with this series, so I’m not sure if I want to watch it or not. Kubota Masatake does make an impressive Light, but I think Yamazaki Kento might be a little too beautiful as L? Also (spoiler alert!), Apparently Near has a split personality, so Yuki Mio plays both Near and Mello! That part I actually wish to see for myself!

What are your thoughts on this adaptation of the series?

Shingeki no Kyojin Live Action Trailer

What we have here is our first look at the 3D Maneuver Gear for the live action movie of Shingeki no Kyojin. I am cautiously optimistic? But at the same time, I’m not entirely sure that those effects will be convincing enough once it hits theaters.

I initially thought it was Eren kissing Mikasa in 1:28, but it looks like they’re the new characters that were created for this film! Good thing too, because I always viewed Eren and Mikasa as siblings!

Anyway, I’m holding off any and all judgment from this film until I actually see it in a month or two. I’m completely excited, and my Survey Corps jacket is ready and waiting!

Bakuman Movie’s Promotional Flyer

We’ve seen Sato Takeru and Kamiki Ryunosuke as Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito back in May 2014… but I thought you guys might want to see this promotional leaflet, since the illustrations they are holding originals by Obata Takeshi!

The film is a youth drama that depicts the struggles of 2 high school students: Moritaka Mashiro and Takagi Akito, as they strive to be a successful mangaka pair that aims to be serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump. The poster shows the two protagonists holding an illustration drawn by the manga artist, Obata Takeshi-sensei, himself.

In addition to Sato & Kamiki, the film also features a star-studded supporting cast headed by prolific young actor Sometani Shota as their rival mangaka - Niizuma Eiji, Komatsu Nana as the heroine - Azuki Miho, Yamada Takayuki, Lily Franky, Kudo Kankuro, Kiritani Kenta, Sarutoki Minagawa and Arai Hirofumi. The film is directed by One Hitoshi (Moteki).

"Bakuman" will be in Japanese theaters on October 03, 2015.

Shingeki no Kyojin: Eren Jeager 03

shingeki no kyojin cosplay - eren jeager by miura harumaEren has been overprotective of his friends and family ever since he was a child. Armin was his only friend and Eren never hesitated taking on the bullies who would make fun of him. He even brutally slaughtered the human traffickers who captured Mikasa in order to rescue her, even though they had never met before. After losing his mother to a titan, and losing contact with his father, his overprotectiveness intensified and he vowed to kill all the Titans with the Survey Corps.

You’ve probably seen this already, but I have to say, these character posters for the live action Shingeki no Kyojin movie look amazing! I’m a little worried about how the effects will be 3D Maneuver Gear, but I still can’t wait to see this!

What do you think of Miura Haruma playing the role of Eren Jeager? Remember, he’s the same guy who played Kazehaya from the live action Kimi ni Todoke movie. Quite a different role for him, wouldn’t you agree? Thanks to Karen for sending this in!

Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends

It looks like everyone is talking about Sato Takeru, Takei Emi, Aoki Munetaka, and director Otomo Keishi at the Asian Premier of Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno at SM Megamall today. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who were able to get tickets for the event. I did try my best with my entry, so I have no regrets as to what else I could have done.

Since the event looked so amazingly successful, maybe I’ll have another chance one day (and if it’s Watsuki Nobuhiro visiting the Philippines next time, I would come-close-enough-to-killing for a chance to meet him!). But for now, look at what’s been released at 映画『るろうに剣心』!

rurouni kenshin: the legend ends promotional poster

The sandy beach setting for this poster looks like the final battle ground from the manga between Yukishiro Enishi and Kenshin, but Enishi didn’t wear a traditional kimono. I remember that he went to China, and even studied Chinese sword fighting, so who could this be?

Whoever it is, I’m sure that this movie will be a great ending for this amazing live-action trilogy. Thanks to Denis for sending this in!

Rurouni Kenshin: Himura Kenshin 03

Did you know that the character, Himura Kenshin, is based on a real samurai of the late Edo period?

Watsuki Nobuhiro discovered and used the story of Kawakami Gensai, a hitokiri executed by the Meiji Government. Kawakami was said to be a highly skilled swordsman, and he was one of the four most notable assassins of the Bakumatsu period. Kawakami was the only practitioner of the high-speed sword discipline known as the Shiranui-ryu.

According to Watsuki, when he found that Kawakami maintained a duty to his dead comrades, he decided to create the title character of the Rurouni Kenshin series, Himura Kenshin, also known as Hitokiri Battousai.

August can’t come any sooner! I’m so excited to see this new movie! I’m sure I’ll be pestering anyone and everyone to watch with me! Thanks to Hina for sending this in!

Bakuman Live Action

sato takeru and kamiki ryunosuke in bakuman live actionA live action film for Bakuman has just been green-lit for release in 2015 according to Anime News Network, and Rurouni Kenshin stars Sato Takeru (Himura Kenshin / Battousai) and Kamiki Ryunosuke (Seta Soujiro) have been cast for the lead roles as Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito respectively!

Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O, Beck, Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru, Ryōmaden) plays Moritaka Mashiro, a boy who aspires to be a manga artist, and Ryunosuke Kamiki (Howl's Moving Castle, Summer Wars, The Secret World of Arrietty, The Princess and the Pilot) plays his classmate and story collaborator Akito Takagi. The film follows Mashiro and Takagi as they walk the path to becoming manga creators. The two lead actors happen to also co-star as Kenshin Himura and Sōjirō Seta in the upcoming live-action sequel film Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen).

I am squealing with joy while hyperventilating with excitement! I can’t help but think this is Kenshin’s and Soujiro’s reincarnation into modern times, but heck, 2015 can’t get here soon enough!

Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc Trailer

To be honest, I wasn’t all that impressed with how Shishio looked in this movie. However, the first trailer that came out only showed a few seconds of his profile.

With this official trailer, I have to say, I can’t wait for August 1 to arrive! Not only does Shishio look more menacing than ever, but Shinomori Aoshi also appears to be quite impressive! I gotta hand it to the people handling this live action movie. It really brings back a lot of fond memories for me. Thanks to Mika for sharing this with me!

Another: Misaki Mei

another live action - misaki mei by hashimoto ai

When Sakakibara Koichi was sent to the hospital due to his heart condition, he claimed to have strange dreams about a mysterious girl with a doll’s eye.

A few days later, he meets the same girl from his dream in the hospital. He gingerly approached her, asking what she was looking for in the basement. However, she doesn’t answer him and continued to walk with a doll in her hand.

About a month later, Koichi entered Yomiyama North High and meets the girl with a doll’s eye once again. This time, she was in his classroom, sitting at the back of the class. However, when he asked his classmates about her, they all claimed that the desk was empty.

I’ve just seen this movie, and it really creeped me out. Of course, I guess it doesn’t help that my brother was watching with me and he was doing his very best to scare me even more! But I have to admit, Hashimoto Ai makes a very good (and cute) Misaki Mei!

Have you guys seen this movie yet?

Rurouni Kenshin: Kashiwazaki Nenji a.k.a. Okina

rurouni kenshin cosplay - kashiwazaki nenji okina by tanaka minA talented strategist and a strong fighter in his own right, Kashizawa Nenji, better known as “Okina”, is said to be the only equal of the former Oniwabanshu in terms of fighting. In fact, we was next in line to become the leader of the Oniwabanshu, but he nominated Shinomori Aoshi instead, stating that it was time for the young to lead the Oniwabanshu into the new era. His choice of weapons is a pair of steel tonfa, but has since retired from his days as a ninja.

Tanaka Min will be playing Okina in the next Rurouni Kenshin live action film! I’m not really familiar with this actor, but he definitely looks the part, wouldn’t you agree? Thanks again to Eric for sending this in!

Rurouni Kenshin: Shinomori Aoshi

rurouni kenshin cosplay - shinomori aoshi by iseya yuusukeBorn on January 1853 in Tokyo Prefecture, Shinomori Aoshi was raised as a ninja of the Oniwabanshu who gained the position of Okashira at the age of fifteen. He is a very quiet and intelligent individual who always thinks before he acts. The creator of the series, Watsuki Nobuhiro, said that he based Aoshi’s character on the historical figure Hijikata Toshizo, the Deputy Leader of the Shinsengumi.

This is the official photo of Japanese actor, Iseya Yusuke, who will be playing the role of Aoshi in the second live-action movie “Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc”! I’m pretty excited to see this movie, and I’m sure Iseya-san will do very well in this film! Thanks to Eric for sending this in!

Rurouni Kenshin: Seta Soujiro

rurouni kenshin cosplay seta soujiro by kamiki ryunosukeA young assassin trained by Shishio Makoto, Soujiro Seta is known for his lack of emotions, or rather hiding them behind his smiling face. He is often polite and refers to others with Japanese suffixes, even when he is being sarcastic. He is also well-known for his superhuman speed, which is superior even to that of Kenshin’s.

This is apparently the first official photo of Japanese actor, Kamiki Ryunosuke as Seta Soujiro in the second Rurouni Kenshin live action film, “Rurouni Kenshin: The Great Kyoto Fire Arc”. I am absolutely thrilled and excited about this new character! He is definitely one of my favorites, second only to Kenshin and Misao. I really hope this movie premiers very soon! xxxHolic: Watanuki Kimihiro and Ichihara Yuuko 02

xxxholic live action cosplay kimihiro watanuki and ichihara yuuko by smetani shota and watanabe anne

I’m late for the party, but earlier this year, a live action adaptation of xxxHolic aired in Japan’s WOWOW. Instead of a movie like I had earlier envisioned, this was apparently a TV series, running for only eight episodes. This photo features Watanabe Anne as Ichihara Yuuko and Sometani Shota as Watanuki Kimihiro.

Has anyone seen this? Is it just me, or is an eight-episode TV series too short? I mean, I’ve seen “Boss”, another Japanese TV series, and it had only eleven episodes, but really? Just eight? Was it any good, or just really bad?

Kuroshitsuji Live Action Movie

Set in the year 2020, more than a thousand years after the original manga, Mizushima Hiro plays the role of the demon butler in the live action movie of Kuroshitsuji. It appears we won’t be seeing Ciel Phantomhive in this film, but Genpo Shiori, Sebastian’s new master who is a young woman disguising herself as a man.

I’m not so sure about this one. Warner Brothers Japan did a fantastic job with Rurouni Kenshin, but I personally can’t stand Sebastian’s disheveled hairstyle! He’s supposed to be stylish and put together, right?

Gouriki Ayame does make an interesting looking, Ciel-inspired character, but I’m wondering how the storyline will go, seeing that it’s set in some unknown Asian city where western and eastern cultures have intermixed.

I guess we’ll have to wait until early 2014 to find out. Thanks to Misakichan for sharing this bit of news!

Rurouni Kenshin: Sagara Sanosuke 02

rurouni kenshin live action movie sagara sanosuke aoki munetaka
Source: 映画『るろうに剣心』 on Facebook

In the live action movie of Rurouni Kenshin, Sanosuke is one of the many warriors Takeda Karyu wished to hire in order to get rid of Battousai. After fighting with Kenshin, however, Sanosuke was convinced that despite the huge amount of money, he did not really care for Karyu’s ideals. Sanosuke is later seen fighting along side Kenshin as they stormed into Kanryu’s house to rescue Takani Megumi.

He is definitely one of my favorite actors in this film, second only to Kenshin. Aoki Munetaka managed to capture Sanosuke’s personality while adding a clever twist to make the character his own. Thanks to Anthony for sending this in!
