Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Chun Li 05

It’s pretty amazing how dedicated cosplayers can be. This video of Chloe Bruce taken during Gamescom 2010 in Germany is one of the most impressive Chun Li cosplays I’ve ever seen! It kinda makes me wish I had taken those karate lessons more seriously.

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Chun Li 04

Chun Li is the original fast character in Street Fighter. She utilizes multiple, rapid attacks to make up for her lower damage strikes. Her agility and swift movements make her a favorite among players, and many other female characters that followed played in a similar speedy style. Chun Li’s signature attack is the Hakuretsukyaku or Hundred Rending Kick commonly known as the Lightning Kick.

A beautiful rendition of Chun Li by Japanese cosplayer, Arisa Mizuhara! I must admit, she is also my first choice when playing Street Fighter, and the Lightning Kick is one of my favorite moves. Thanks to Cassandra for sending this in!

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Dhalsim

Source: F. Yoshimi on Facebook
In Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Dhalsim entered the tournament in order to raise money for his village in the Kerala region of India. However, he realized that doing so actually contradicts his pacifist beliefs. He managed to win the tournament for his people and retired from fighting after the second World Warrior tournament, continuing his quest to help those who are in need. Dhalsim has a wife, Sally, and a son named Datta.

He looks absolutely amazing! His eyes are really scary too, but that’s how the character is, right? Thanks to Gino for sending this in!

Street Fighter IV: Kasugano Sakura

street fighter iv - kasugano sakura by takada hikariIn 2008, the people behind Street Fighter IV hired cosplayer Takada Hikari (高田光莉) to cosplay Kasugano Sakura for some marketing materials to promote the franchise. Hikari pulled it off very well, and she was only 12 years old at the time this was taken.

You’ve gotta admit, the girl’s got a lot of talent. And she really makes a cute Sakura. Thanks again to Lily for sending this in!

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Chun Li 03

street fighter ii: the world warrior cosplay - chun li

Chun Li is generally a cheerful woman who often gets happy and excited whenever she wins a fight. As a member of the police Interpol, she takes her job very seriously and always does her best to complete her mission. Chun Li can be quite competitive with other female fighters, but sometimes becomes allies or even friends with them outside the ring.

Cute cosplayer! I wonder what that game is? It looks like a slot machine of some sort. Thanks to Ingrid for sending this in!

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Chun Li 02

street fighter ii: the world warrior cosplay - chun li 2 by rachelIntroduced in Street Fighter II, Chun-Li is the first female playable character to appear in a 1-on-1 fighting game. She was the only female character, as well as one of the youngest fighters, in the game. While she is not physically powerful, she was the quickest by far. Chun-Li’s most famous attack is the Hyakuretsukyaku, or the “Hundred Rending Leg”, commonly known as the Lightning Kick, where she repeatedly kicks her opponents with incredible speed.

Another awesome cosplay by Rachel! I thought this outfit was from one of the the newer games, but this is apparently Rachel’s original design! Definitely a nice twist! Thanks again to Rachel for allowing me to post this!

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior: Chun-Li

street fighter 2: the world warrior cosplay - chun-liAn ordinary girl who lost her father to Shadaloo, Chun-Li entered Street Fighter II's tournament in order to seek its founder and Shadaloo's Leader, M. Bison. Her Mandarin name is 春 meaning “Spring” and 麗 meaning “Beautiful”. These characters were chosen for her as she is a “single, young girl filled with the beauty of Spring”. Once she had achieved her revenge, she was given the choice to continue her work as a police officer or to return to her life as an ordinary girl.

Beautiful Chun-Li! Those spike bracelets of hers look very heavy… I hope she didn’t have a hard time carrying them around. Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this!

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers: Cammy

super street fighter 2: the new challengers cosplay - cammyOne of for "New Challengers" in the fourth Street Fighter II revision, Cammy is a teen-aged agent of Delta Force Red within Britain's MI6. The game had 2 different endings for her; the Japanese version depicts Cammy as a former agent of M. Bison's, but suffered amnesia during her last operation. In the American version of the game, however, she was revealed to be M. Bison's lover, who was also suffering amnesia.

Impressive cosplay! Though I don't recall seeing a white version of her costume. I only remember green and blue ones. In any case though, thanks to Illinoisiana for the photo!

Street Fighter II: Champion Edition: Chun-Li

street fighter 2 cosplay - chun-li First appeared on Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Chun-Li is an undercover Interpol agent who joins M.Bison’s Fighting Tournament to avenge her father, the investigator of M.Bison’s Crime Syndicate, Shadaloo. Chun-Li is said to be the “First Lady of Fighting Games”, a nickname she gained among enthusiasts.

This girl really does look a lot like Chun-Li, although I think her boots should be higher. Was there really a pink version though? I remember a red version of her outfit as an option to her blue one, (I think there was a green one too?) but I don’t remember a pink one… Great cosplay though!
