Hetalia: Axis Powers: Hungary 03

Hungary was a nomadic girl who loved to chase horses on the plains. She was a tomboyish girl who believed herself to be a boy until she hit puberty. She is described to be a reliable older sister, and the manliest character in the series.

In 2008, Himaruya gave human names to some of the characters in Hetalia: Axis Powers. Hungary received the name Elizabeta Héderváry.

I still haven’t been able to read or watch this series yet, but does anyone remember this cosplayer? She is Teru Terumii, who was featured on Cosplay Holic before as Alice Baskerville and Hatsune Miku!

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Germany 02

A serious and efficient individual, Germany is a perfectionist who always abides by the rules. He is a pessimist and a neat freak, who loves making sweets, reading, and walking his dogs. His patience is often tested by his unreasonable boss and the trouble-making Italy.

It’s not very often that we see a male cosplayer from this series, so I thought I had to feature this too. Thanks to Daily Hetalia for sharing this!

A loud and energetic individual, America is the youngest among the Allied Forces and their self-declared leader in the World War II strips of Hetalia: Axis Powers. He is obsessed with superheroes, hamburgers, and has an unusual taste for weird colored sweets, much to Japan’s chagrin. America occasionally intrudes on other people’s business and has Phasmophobia, or a fear of ghosts.

Another amazing cosplay by Lirlys! America doesn’t seem all that loud here, but I’m sure the character has his quiet moments as well. Thanks to Merry for sending this in, as well as to her photographer, Aidu!

Russia’s younger sister, Belarus strikes fear to the hearts of many due to her harsh and intimidating demeanor. She wishes to marry her brother someday, and despises Lithuania, who happens to have a crush on her. Belarus doesn’t like anyone who becomes close to Russia and tends to remain by his side to threaten those who dare to come near.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Japan 03

The third member of the Axis Powers, Japan was recruited by Germany and is said to be mysterious, quiet, as well as hard-working. Though he looks younger than both Italy and Germany, Japan is actually the eldest and acts like an old man.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Hungary and Itako

As with most characters in Hetalia: Axis Powers, Italy also has a gender-swapped version commonly known as Itako.

Although to be honest, it looks to me like Italy was forced into a maid’s uniform by Hungary, which kind of makes this a whole lot cuter funnier. Italy’s a cowardly character who insists on surrendering rather than fighting after all!

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Austria

A young master who loves the piano, Austria was born to fight, but was he was a weak child and often had to be assisted by his friend, Switzerland, until the two had a falling-out. Despite his high class appearance, he is actually quite frugal. He has a history of marriages, including to Hungary and one to Spain. Austria helped in raising young Italy when he became property of the Holy Roman Empire.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Russia 02

Known for his love of sunflowers and vodka, Russia’s primary target of resentment is General Winter. This is because, despite using the cold as an advantage in war, General Winter also attacks Russia every year. Russia has a kind face, but his is mentally cracked due to the strain of his bloody history. He often says that eventually “all will become one with Russia”, and “kolkolkolkol” when he is angry.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Nene and Kolko

Some time before World War II approached, China and Russia wound up on the same side. For some reason, Russia stalked China frequently and was also often partnered with him. Russia’s “special interest” in China is one of the reasons for his extreme paranoia.

China’s female version is often nicknamed “Nene” or “Wang Chun-Yan”. Russia’s female version, on the other hand, has several nicknames including Kolko, Lucy, Roshiko, Anya Braginskaya, Ivanna, Inna, and Irina.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Japan, England, America, Germany, and Italy

The Axis Powers consists of the main protagonists Italy, Germany, and Japan while the Allied Forces have America, England, France, China, and Russia. The main historical events portrayed in Hetalia occur between World War I and World War II. However, the series uses satire and comedy to address well-known historical events as well as historical and cultural trivia.

Not a fan of history when I was still studying, which probably explains why I know so little about this series. So thanks again to Yukino for sending me a lot of Hetalia cosplays to feature on Cosplay Holic!

Hetalia: Axis Powers: China

One of the oldest nations in the series, China is the self-proclaimed older brother of the other Asian nations, even if Japan doesn’t see him that way at all. He is an easy-going hermit who has a fondness for food and cute things, although the characters he creates are often bootleg versions of the other countries’ like Hello Kitty. He also appears to be wary of Russia.

I could tell you that I felt bad about not knowing Prussia or Nanjo Koji when I posted the 90th Unknown Entry back in May, but this is actually a submission by Cherokee, so I figured, why not? And this time, with a proper article!

The older brother of Germany, Prussia will do anything to become strong. He once represented the Teutonic Knights, but later became Prussia after various stages of his life as a nation. He is currently living with Germany after his home was dissolved, though he once worked under Russia for a time.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Honda Sakura

If I had to take a guess, two characters come to mind: Suzumiya Haruhi from The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi or Hirasawa Yui from K-On! It’s because her hair is similar to both characters, but the kimono reminds me Kinomoto Sakura from an episode in Card Captor Sakura.

Denmark is the older brother full of youthful vigor. He is the second tallest of the five Nordics while his brother, Norway, is the third. Denmark and Norway are childhood friends and Denmark considers Norway to be his favorite and close friend.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Belarus

Now her I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere before. I just can’t seem to figure out where exactly that is.

She looks like a character that stepped out of a vampire novel or even a fighting game. Black gloves seem to be fairly uncommon to go with a French Maid uniform after all, but the blue ribbon with the blond wig make me think of Alice.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Hong Kong

There is very little known about Hong Kong, aside from being under the British's control for many years. No one can really tell what’s on his mind as he seldom shows emotion, if at all. He speaks in a mixture of Japanese and English.

Although I would like to applaud this cosplayer for the great work, this feature is also to pay tribute to Hong Kong. Several tourists who were on their way back home to Hong Kong were killed in a hostage situation in the Philippines just a few hours ago. No clear information has been released, but the incident was televised and watching it was very horrifying.

I am saddened by this, as I used to work in Hong Kong as well. May God bless the departed souls and the families who were left behind.

Hetalia: Axis Powers: Russia

With the innocence and cruelty of a child, Russia is known for being the tallest among all the nations and for his kind face. The other nations are quite terrified of him, especially the Baltic Trio: Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia as Russia loves them to physical and emotional abuse. The only country whom Russia fears is his younger sister, Belarus, who is obsessed with the idea of forcing him to marry her.
