Bleach: Gotei 13

The Gotei Thirteen is the central organization in Soul Society that most Soul Reapers join. Just like its name, there are 13 divisions with different specializations:

• The First Division which is the highest among all the ranks deal with emergencies in a swift matter and it responsible for making snap decisions.
• The Second Division houses the Stealth Force.
• The Fourth Division is known for their medical work.
• The Ninth Division is the security force of Gotei 13. It is always on standby which also oversees art and culture.
• The Eleventh Division is well-known for its sword skills and brute military tactics.
• The Twelfth Division is the scientific research division which have been directly linked to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute over 100 years ago by former captain, Urahara Kisuke.

The third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight, tenth, and thirteenth have no special duties. However, the Sixth Division are seen as a model division and are known for their strict adherence to the rules.

Quite an amazing group! Even though they have their backs turned, it' must have been quite a sight to see all 13 cosplayers (and one Kurosaki Ichigo) in one place. Thanks to Jun for sending this in!

Bleach: Inoue Orihime 03

Friendly and sensitive, Inoue Orihime may appear to be naive and clueless, but she gets exceptionally high marks in school. However, she is also an exceptionally back cook, so much so that no one in the series would dare eat her cooking aside from Matsumoto Rangiku. Because of her kind nature, Orihime tends to jump into situation without thinking things thoroughly, often leading to embarrassing or even dangerous consequences.

Cute cosplayer! I’ve stopped following Bleach a long time ago, but it appears as if it’s gaining popularity again because the manga is ending soon (or has it already ended?) Thanks to Carol for sending this in!

Bleach: Zaraki Kenpachi

The captain of the 11th Division, Zaraki Kenpachi gave himself the title of “Kenpachi” which is awarded to the man in each generation who enjoys fighting and has the greatest blood lust. His name roughly translates to “no matter how many times you cut him, he will never fall”. He is the only Captain in the 13 Divisions who cannot use Bankai because Kenpachi cannot sense reiatsu which makes it nearly impossible for him to learn the name of his sword.

They make a spectacular pair of cosplayers and they never cease to amaze me! I’m a little curious why they decided to go to a convention as characters from two different series though, but I guess we’ll never know! Both Naruto and Bleach are equally popular though, so I don’t think their fans are complaining! Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this in!

Bleach: Hirako Shinji 02

During the battle between the Gotei 13 and Aizen Sosuke, 1st Division Captain Yamamoto-Genryusai Shigekuni asked Shinji which side was on. He simply answered that he was on neither’s side because he was on Kurosaki Ichigo’s. Shinji’s zanpakuto is named Sakanade, which literally means “Counter Stroke”. Once released, five holes line the blade’s length and a large ring forms at the bottom of the hilt.

I got to admit, his eyes are really creeping me out. But that just goes to show how good this cosplay is at capturing the character’s personality. Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this in!

Bleach: Kuchiki Byakuya 02

As a noble of the infamous Kuchiki clan, Byakuya may appear cold and regal to most, but he actually cares deeply for his adopted younger sister, Rukia, whom he refers to as his “pride”. He does have a comical side as he not only attends the lieutenants’ meeting when Abarai Renji is absent, but also implies that he attends the meetings of the Soul Reaper Women’s Association when Rukia is absent. Byakuya likes Japanese cherry blossoms, night-time walks, spicy food, and bananas, but he does not like sweets.

Bleach: Kyoraku Shunsui and Yadomaru Lisa

Approximately 110 years before the series began, Lisa was the Lieutenant of the 8th Division then under Captain Shunsui Kyoraku. She was known to engage in reading to the youngest female member of the 8th Division, Ise Nanao, during the first day of each month. Although she seems detached and secretive, Lisa does have a playful side similar to Kyoraku’s, as the two often shared mutual advances toward each other.

Bleach: Kurosaki Ichigo 04

When Aizen created his army of arrancar in Hueco Mundo, Ichigo is taught to control his inner hollow by the Visored, Soul Reapers with hollow powers. This allowed him to call upon his hollow powers at will without sacrificing control by donning a hollow mask through a limited time. Although Ichigo and his friends managed to fend off the arrancar with bolstered defenses, they are unable to prevent the abduction of Inoue Orihime.

Bleach: Neliel Tu Oderschvank 07

Seventeen months after Aizen Sosuke’s defeat, Neliel Tu Orderschvank went to Karakura Town in search of Kurosaki Ichigo. She then informed him about the Vandenreich, a group of Quincies who apparently survived the massacre years ago, have taken over Hueco Mundo. Both she and Pesche also told him that Dondochakka was captured and asked for his help.

Bleach: Lilynette Gingerback and Coyote Starrk

Coyote Starrk is the Primera Espada, signified by the “1” tattooed on the back of his left hand. Starrk and Lilynette came into being as the result of a Hollow splitting its soul in two out of loneliness. This was brought on by the fact that its vast spiritual pressure was too deadly for those who got too close, even towards other Hollows it tried to befriend. Starrk apparently does not remember which of them resembled the original Hollow.

It’s pretty awesome to see the two of them together. I liked Starrk’s laidback attitude in the beginning of the anime. Thanks to Mae for sending this in!

Bleach: Hinamori Momo 05

When Hinamori’s zanpakuto is released, Tobiume's blade straightens and produces several jitte-like prongs along its length. In this form, Tobiume acts as a focus for Hinamori's spiritual power, concentrating it into energy bursts capable of forming craters as well as breaching walls. She can also compress her power into massive energy balls and throw them from the tip of her blade.

Bleach: Ichimaru Gin and Aizen Sousuke

The captain of the 10th Division, Hitsugaya Toushirou is considered to be a prodigy and became the youngest captain in the history of Soul Society. He is quite sharp, as he was one of the first to suspected Aizen Sousuke of foul play, as well as Ichimaru Gin of being a conspirator. Although he is short-tempered and irritable, Hitsugaya is actually very mature and does not like others goofing off or drawing unneeded attention.

Finally got to feature an Aizen cosplayer, but he has his back to the camera! Oh well, I guess I just need to research for more Bleach cosplays soon. Thanks again to Fumiki for sending this in!

Bleach: Hitsugaya Toushirou

As a child, Hitsugaya Toushirou lived a carefree childhood in Junrinan, District 1 of western Rukongai. His mother passed away shortly after giving birth to him, and he was thus raised by his grandmother. His icy demeanor isolated him from others except Hinamori Momo, whom he considers a very close friend.

You might notice this is not only a crop from the original, but I also cleaned out the wires from the sky backdrop. I know a bit of photoshop, and since Goku Lover 3 mentioned in her comments how much she wanted those lines to disappear, I figured, why not?

Bleach: Ishida Uryuu 03

Generally shy and quiet, Ishida Uryuu has a tendency to try and act “cool” when he is around other people. After Kurosaki Ichigo attained shinigami (soul reaper; death god) powers from Kuchiki Rukia, Ishida confronted him in an attempt to prove that Quincies like himself are superior. Ishida distrusts the shinigami because his grandfather, Ishida Souken, was killed by the shinigami right in front of him.

This is pretty cool! Especially since the cosplayer has a similar cross that Ishida had during the first season of the anime. Thanks to Mika for sending this in!

Bleach: Hinamori Momo 04

When Hinamori Momo recovered from her disturbed mental state, she joined the rest of Soul Society in fighting against Aizen Sosuke. However, Aizen was able to seriously injure her once again by using his powers to fool Hitsugaya Toshiro into stabbing her in the chest. Thankfully, Hinamori survived and is currently undergoing organ regeneration under the supervision of the 12th Division.

That’s a really interesting setting for a Bleach cosplay. It makes me think that Hinamori-chan has found her peace of mind and is finally free from Aizen control. Thanks to Rachma for sending this and for letting me know the cosplayer is Indonesian!

Bleach: Szayelaporro Grantz

The 8th or Octavo Espada, Szayelaporro represents the “madness” aspect of death. He is an intellectual and a scientist, thinking highly of himself and has the tendency to follow his plans to the finest detail. Like Kurotsuchi Mayuri, he is quite sadistic and views others as nothing more than research material. Szayelaporro also looks down upon non-Hollows and hopes that Aizen Sosuke would kill them all.

An impressive cosplay of one of the creepiest characters in Bleach. I had to adjust the photo a little because the one I received was in poor quality. I hope the cosplayer doesn’t mind! Thanks to Shiney for sending this in!

Bleach: Shattered Blade: Arturo Plateado

Over one thousand years before the current Bleach storyline, Arturo Plateado was a self-made and very powerful Arrancar who wanted to destroy the Shinigami. He is so old that only Yamamoto-Genryuusai Shigekuni and Shihoin Yoruichi recognize and know him. He was recorded to have single-handedly decimated almost half of the shinigami military forces in his initial attack.

Impressive! I didn’t know there were characters that were exclusive to the game. It makes me want to play this even more! Thanks again to Loki for sending this!
