Hakurei Reimu may be described as easygoing and optimistic, but she is also a dutiful priestess of the Hakurei Shrine. She is also quite sympathetic towards most of the other characters in the game as there are only very few who remain her rivals past the first encounter. Her shrine later became a popular locale for some of Gensokyo’s residents.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Lu Bu

One of the infamous Generals of the Han Dynasty, Lu Bu is known to be the mightiest warrior of his time, but is better known for his many betrayals in the central plains. Like many warlords of his era, Lu Bu wanted to establish himself as an independent power in China, but unfortunately met his end against Cao Cao’s forces.

In Dynasty Warriors 6, Chen Gong advised his lord to take the land for himself as he was driven from the capital for the murder of Dong Zhuo.

Another amazingly detailed cosplay by Stein! Would you beleive that he is actually the same cosplayer as Sesshoumaru whom I featured last May 2012? I needed to double check it myself since the two photos look so different! Thanks again for sending this in!

Kuroshitsuji: Grell Sutcliff 03

The blood-red-headed Grim Reaper with a rather short temper, Grell Sutcliff wielded a terrifying Death Scythe in the form of a chainsaw. However, it was later revealed that the modification was illegal, and William T. Spears of the Management Ward confiscated the chainsaw and replaced them with a much less terrifying pair of scissors. Although originally seen as an antagonist in the series, it would appear that Grell is one of the good guys who just happens to have a liking for killing.

It’s not everyday that a killer is considered to be a protagonist, but then again, he is a Grim Reaper. And what an awesome looking Grell New Writer makes! Can’t help but love that classy pose! Thanks again to You Mi for sending this in!

Sword Art Online: Kirito 02

Upon logging into the latest Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) Sword Art Online (SAO), beta tester Kirito decided that if he was going to survive this game of death, he would have to power level in the shortest amount of time possible. As a “solo” player, he preferred to stay away from guilds despite knowing there are limits to what he can do alone. He was quickly labeled as a beater (beta tester and cheater) at the beginning of the series because he claimed the be the sole beta tester to have reached the furthest levels of SAO during its test phase.

I must confess, I don’t know the series well enough to know who these 5 ninjas are, but Michael was pretty insistent that I should feature this in Cosplay Holic because of how epic the photo is. I do know that the one second to the right is Hatake Kakashi, of course, but is that Naruto’s dad on the left? And the one making goofy faces… could that really be Obito in his younger, more carefree days?

Inspired by Rozen Maiden and Alice in Wonderland, Karen Tsui has worked together with photographer Andrew Simpson to create a fantastic looking original character that I just couldn’t wait to feature!

Andrew has informed me that this was shot in August 2011 in Richmond Park, London, England. Karen is a part-time professional model based in London who loves getting into character and dressing up!

A Message from the Admin: Hall of Shame

Hi everyone! It’s Mei again, the administrator of Cosplay Holic!

You may have noticed that the photos featured beginning in 2013 are now missing the Cosplay Holic logo and URL. Well, I’ve had a change of heart. It’s an uphill battle to try and catch all of the plagiarists of this blog. In fact, I’m beginning to spend more time hunting them down that actually updating the site!

Also, adding the URLs may have deterred some of the copycats, but it hasn’t actually stopped them at all. In the end, it felt like I was breaking my own policy of featuring cosplayers freely because adding my site URL makes it look as if I’m claiming these images as my own.

And so, instead of killing more of my time reporting them to the DMCA, I’ll give them the attention they so desire.

We have come to that time of the year again! With Japan Comiket 83 now come and gone, there are several batches of unknown cosplays ready and waiting to be discovered! …well, ok, they are unknown to me but probably fairly common to you guys!

Today we have a cute, twin-tailed girl who had pink hair and a cross brooch. I really like the cream colored uniform for this character, and there are a lot of line details to her uniform too! Maybe someone might have an idea who she is and where she’s from? Thanks to Fumiki for sending this in!
