Air Gear: Minami Itsuki 02

Originally trained to become the Wind King, and eventually the Sky King, Minami Itsuki soon found himself betrayed by Takeuchi Sora and his twin brother Nike, who conspired together to steal his Regalia. When they did this, Ikki is stripped of the chance to become the next Wind King. Shortly thereafter, however, Ikki was instead named the Storm King, following the “Hurricane Road” by his Principal.

Indonesian cosplayer Zero Rama send me his version of Ikki, and yes, he’s a “he”! Looks like the guys are finally sending their cosplays to Cosplay Holic now. Thanks again for letting me post this!

Ranma 1/2 Live Action Movie

Ranma ½ also got its live action movie adaptation which aired on NTV last December 2011.

The movie was largely based on stories from early volumes of the manga with special stars Aragaki Yui as Akane, Kaku Kento and Watanabe Natsuna as male and female Ranma respectively. Tayama Ryousei was cast as the antagonist Okamada, a new character made especially for the movie. The theme song “Chikutaku☆2Nite” was contributed by the all-girl pop group 9nine.

Is this a trend of some sort, or am I just extremely late for this party? Whatever it is though, I’m so loving it. Thanks again to Tanaka for sending this in!

The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi: Suzumiya Haruhi 07

In the third novel “The Boredom of Suzumiya Haruhi”, Haruhi told everyone during the SOS Brigade's standard after-school meeting to write down wishes for the Tanabata festival. After the meeting was over, Mikuru took Kyon back in time, to the Tanabata festival three years ago, where he met Haruhi in seventh grade. He was then coerced into helping her, much like she does in present time. When she asked him his name, Kyon simply replied, “John Smith”.

Gyakuten Saiban Live Action Trailer

Released in Japan last February 2012, Gyakuten Saiban is based on Capcom’s game series which is more commonly known as Ace Attorney in the west. It was directed by Takashi Miike, with stars Narimiya Hiroki as Naruhodo Ryuichi (Phoenix Wright), Kiritani Mirei as Ayasato Mayoi (Maya Fey), and Saito Takumi as Mitsurugi Reiji (Miles Edgeworth).

Don’t worry guys, Miike has stated that there are plans for an international release, so I guess we’ll just have to sit patiently until then. Thanks to Katserest for sending this in!

Blazblue: Calamity Trigger: Noel Vermillion

A young girl who was found amidst the burning fields of Ikaruga, Noel became the adopted daughter of the Vermillion family. It was because of her outstanding combat activity that she became a high-ranking member of the NOL using the Nox Nyctores revolver Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk. These guns do not fire actual bullets, but rather, inflicts damage by creating distortions in dimensional space.

Final Fantasy XIII: Éclair Farron aka Lightning 03

Early in the game, Lightning becomes a l’Cie, a being magically marked by the “fal’Cie” creatures to do their bidding. Lightning's mark appears in the middle of her chest that grants her superhuman strength as well as a rose-shaped crystal which she can use to summon the Eidolon Odin. In battle, Lightning can command Odin to turn into a horse-like creature and use his double-bladed sword for a short amount of time. Her strongest unique special attack is called the “Army of One”, or “Scene Drive” in the Japanese version.

Touhou Project: Yamaxanadu Shikieiki 02

Yamaxanadu Shikieki is one of the Yama who judge the dead on whether they should go to Heaven, Hell, Hakugyokurou, or get reincarnated. Onozuka Komachi is tasked with bringing the souls of the dead to Shikieki over a river called the Sanzu no Kawa. However, not every soul makes it all the way to Shikieiki without being tired out from the journey or being extinguished by Komachi herself.

My best guess is that she’s Sakagami Tomoyo from Clannad because of the hairstyle, but I don’t remember ever seeing her in a white dress like this. Could this be her wedding dress from the game?

She could also be Chi from Chobits, but that’s a long shot because she’s missing that essential earpiece.

During a major audition for the lead role in an upcoming musical, Grace noticed that Sheryl's singing abilities attracted Vajra. Lylith sacrificed herself to save Sheryl and told her that her songs must convey feelings to others. Sheryl then promised to Lylith and her parents that she will be the best singer in the entire galaxy.

When Aizen created his army of arrancar in Hueco Mundo, Ichigo is taught to control his inner hollow by the Visored, Soul Reapers with hollow powers. This allowed him to call upon his hollow powers at will without sacrificing control by donning a hollow mask through a limited time. Although Ichigo and his friends managed to fend off the arrancar with bolstered defenses, they are unable to prevent the abduction of Inoue Orihime.

Claymore: Priscilla and Isley

When Priscilla traveled north, she ate everyone in towns she passed through except young girls. She eventually met Isley and Rigaldo, destroying half of Isley's awakened form. Their battle reverted Isley back into her human form, but she lost her memory as she regressed into childhood. Isley then swore allegiance to Priscilla and promised to take her south.

Inu x Boku SS: Shirakiin Ririchiyo and Yukinokouji Nobara

Here is another one of Stilzkin’s submissions from Japan’s Chokaigi 2012! But we’re both not sure who they’re cosplaying as.

I’m guessing the girl on the left could be Hinomoto Oniko, but I can’t just say that because she has a demon mask around her waist. I’m sure other female characters do that too.

Final Fantasy X: Jecht

A blitzball celebrity in his hometown of Dream Zanarkand, Jecht has a difficult and complicated with his son, Tidus. It is mentioned multiple times that Tidus hates Jecht because he believed that his mother always ignored him when Jecht was around. Tidus was also under a lot of pressure to live up to his father's fame and, to make matters worse, Jecht regularly insulted him and called him a crybaby. Truth be told, Jecht deeply loved and cared for Tidus, but is unable to express this in a kind way.

That's pretty awesome with the details, locations, and everything! And just look at that massive sword! Thanks again to Julia for sending this in!

Guilty Gear X: Dizzy 02

After escaping from her abusive captors, Dizzy came under the protection of Testament, a Gear who had served under the Command Gear Justice. Testament fought off most of the bounty hunters who were after Dizzy, and if any managed to overcome him, they were quickly beaten back by the immense power of Dizzy herself. She was eventually defeated by the bounty hunter known as Sol Badguy, but he decided to spare her life, and the bounty fell to Kuradoberi Jam instead.

After wandering from place to place for a time, Haku was found by Zabuza who recognized his talents and agreed to take him in as a tool. As a result, Haku becomes unquestioningly protective and loyal to Zabuza, as he found a purpose in life by being useful to his master. He ultimately gives his life in his mission, becoming a human shield to protect Zabuza from Hatake Kakashi's Lightning Blade.
